FO2 Install Help, I Read Stickies

First time out of the vault
I am having trouble installing Fallout 2 on my brother's computer. When I try to install it via autoplay, it freezes. When I try to install it with the setup file, it says "Error initializing video mode." When I set the compatability mode to Windows 95 or Windows 98, it says the same thing. Fallout 2 works on my computer and my computer uses Windows XP, too. My driver is ialmrnt5.dll and the device is Intel(R) 828456/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. My brother's driver is SiS630v.dll and the device is SiS 630/730. I also tried manually installing (http://www.nma-fallout.com/article.php?id=1593) it on sizes small, large, and humongous. My brother's computer CPU is an AMD Duron 1.1GHz processor. Mine is an Intel Celeron 2.53GHz. Both computers have 128mb of RAM. And both have DirectX9. I also tried sending the whole directory for Fallout 2 with the newest official patch from my computer to my brother's and tried playing from there but it says "Error initializing video mode 640x480" whether or not i change the compatability. Please help.

1) Make sure your brother has installed the latest driver for his video card. Considering how old his card may be though, it could have possibly been a while since it's been updated, and the latest update may have still had complications with the game.

2)Has he had problems running any other applications in 640*480 resolution? By default the lowest resolution Windows XP runs in is 800*600, although technically applications should be capable of running in lower resolutions.

1) His driver is already the latest one available.
2) He hasn't had any trouble running Diablo 2 in 640x480.

Problem solved. Interestingly enough, when you search "error initializing video mode" on Google, all the search results are Fallout 2 related. Anyways, I found a Spanish site that mentioned the user also had that error and also had an SiS 630 video card. So I hypothesized that maybe it's the SiS driver. So I removed the driver and problem solved. And more interestingly, I used Google to translate the site after I solved my problem and the answer is on the last post in crappy English.

Could you or someone else who knows anything about drivers (i.e. not me) put a note about this in the Troubleshooting thread?

You know, as PUNISHMENT for triple posting.
