Sooo... how long have you enjoyed the art of picture editing?

RE: Odd happenings...

it might also be the result of having too much booze out of the game though.

RE: Odd happenings...

Now WHY THE HELL would I edit a picture to make a secret blocking hex eh? At the last check, 40000000 or so pounds, and had the graphic of a fridge. A Secret Blocking Hex is what the game uses to stop things walking through walls and such. The pistol is a H&K Usp9 Compact. And this

is a H&K SMG II.

1. There was no 'graphic of a fridge' in your inventory screen.
2. It said it weighed 25 pounds.
3. You called this 'result of putting Booze in the Bag and walking round a bit', not a secret blocking hex.

So something's not adding up, Sparky. I suggest you correct it.

RE: Odd happenings...

That gun isn't in the game! That's the above view of the SiG pistol in Counter-Strike!

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Oct-26-00 AT 06:31AM (GMT)[p]Okay, let's set some things straight.

MISTER Roshambo: 1) At the last check, yes. The image is continually changing. Once it was the ground frame of metal armor. Then it was a bookshelf. Then it was a red square with a flashing blue outline, with a black ? in the middle.
2) Once again, continually changing. I have other pictures (see below).
3) RESULT. Yes, result. There is no way to get a secret blocking hex with an inventory editor, nor make a negative weight value (to my knowledge). Honestly, I have absolutely no idea why this all happened. It just did. Maybe someone else could try it and see what happens.
Well, there you go, smartarse. Oh, and the pistol was obtained by use of The Mod Squad's H&K Total Conversion Mod, which I happened to be using at the time.

1. When someone asks you to explain something, i suggest you don't cop an attitude. Particularly when you've just about joined the ranks of Revil, BOS Steel Knight, and many others.
2. This board is for Fallout 2.

I'm going to cut to the chase and use the misconcepted definition of my name and be as blunt as a kick in the nuts.

Now, let's go back to Kindergarten reasoning here. If something fucked up in the state of Denmark, and you are using mods, where do you think you should go? Hm? Please reassure humanity and display enough intelligence to figure that one out.

The happening was Fallout-related, and as such belonged here. The mod doesn't affect the bag or booze, nor where they were found. Although I am probably hardly believed by now, I stand by my honest word that the pictures are genuine, and unaffected by mods. SO. If you try it, something similar might happen. Mods are merely extensions of the game. But if it matters to you, I loaded a saved game from some time before it happened, and EXACTLY THE SAME THING OCCURED. I don't get my kicks out of bullshitting, like Revil and all the others do. If you don't believe me then that's not my problem, but I'm not lying. In short, don't knock it 'till you try it.

ahem.

So you're an administrator, are you? If I'd known, I probably would have tried to be more civil. If not, what's the little blue thing next to your name?

Don't be a prick. He hadn't done anything bad yet. You're just being paranoid.

And Fallout 2 was the game in question

It's not at all obvious that the problem was caused by the mod.
Now you don't have to act as such an asshole just to show everyone you're the Almighty Admin. Settle down.

RE: Odd happenings...

Tell you what, someone try the "booze in a bag" thing and see if it works. Hell, I'll do it mysef next time I've got a few free hours. Fallout 2 is so big, you never know... however I think it's bullshit.

So far, general consensus has been that it's a load of shit. We have a zero tolerance level for bullshitters.

Yes, but NOT Modded Fallout 2.

No, I'm an asshole because he decided to cop an attitude with me. Or an asshole for the fuck of it.

Anyways, it should be really obvious if you found 'something new' in a modded game of Fallout 2, then take it to the Mod forum. For a few good reasons:

1. Perhaps me modders put it in as an Easter Egg of their own.
2. It could be from the pure game, but since the game in question has been altered, it might not be.
3. So to cover all bases, ask someone in the Modding forum. Hell, most of those people have been FUCKing around in the code for a while and know just about everything in there. Move this topic over to the mod forum and see what they have to say.
4. I just put a notice in the description of this board saying such.

If they say it's a load of shit, then goodbye Rock-in-a-sock, you're gone. If it is in the game, still take any modded game questions to the mod forum.

I have to correct you on this Rosh. The red square does exist in the normal game. Nuke77 of the order has a picture of it up on his site. It's some sort of bug, probably related to the bag not working properly.

I've gone on your "Wild Booze Chase".
So far, nothing has happened. Tried it in many games, and I even tried it on my unpatched version on my PII-400. Still nothing.

>Mods are
>merely extensions of the game.

This shows exactly how little you know about modding. Modding not only adds to a game, it also changes or replaces aspects of the game. Bugs are quite common with different kinds of patch-ins, like if what you're putting in is larger than what you're replacing.

>But if it matters to
>you, I loaded a saved

Very well. Let me make you the same offer we've made others. Put that saved game into a .zip file, and upload it somewhere. If it checks out, great, but for all intents and purposes it does look like you are bullshitting around. A detailed list of why below. If you are found to be really bullshitting us, then you can kiss your presence here goodbye, because we have a Zero Tolerance policy when it comes to this.

Let's see:

1. New handle.
2. Posts about some 'super cool item/trick' that frankly nobody else has heard about, and has never experienced even though there's about a combined thousands+ hours of game time, AND rooting around in the master.dat file. A lot of people have been toying around with it, and I've scrounged around.
3. Is extremely vague about the method used to achieve said 'wondrous tricks', naming a couple of items and viola, you have the trick. I would like everyone to notice the difference between the few kinds of "I've found something really neat!" claims. Those that are in the game, and everyone knows about, the person puts a lot of detail into it, usually. Possibly because what they are talking about actually happened. Then there's the 'specific formulae' kind of bullshitter that puts up some really odd formula to get something fantastic. Kind of like the guy once here said you had to drink 50 beers, 60 booze, and 90 whiskey to be able to get a special gift from someone. To those who have played the game, they can easily identify this troll for what it is, and flush them out. Then, the last one I'm going to talk about (and certainly not the last one that exists), is the vague 'I did this...but it might work for you' reasoning that is a tad ludicrous, but is sometimes readily identifiable as bullshit by those who have looked at the game data.
4. Already within a few posts starts telling people to 'Shut up'.

Looks like we got our new troll here....

The red square, certainly.

However, this is supposedly an ever-graphic-changing, ever-weight-changing item.

I was there when the red square was found, not more than three months after the game was released. The bag was found shortly after that.

You can kill the caravener and get the red square, but it's just an item, AND has a different name than this person gives it.

So it's not connected to this.

And I have used the bag as a various storage container for drugs and liquor at various times, so...that's why I'm waving the bullshit flag. And for a while in one of my games, I have the bag with one booze, just to check it. And another game with several.

So far, nothing.

RE: Odd happenings...

IMO it looks like it's just a bug, that has *maybe* been triggered by the mod (as the mod changes things in the data files, it might have some small mistake). It doesn't look like an easter egg. And it does sound like a quite reasonable bug, bugs in other games are often things like that. Items that get corrupt or whatever.
Also, the guy hasn't been acting as an asshole or insulted anyone. So far, the only one that has done that is Rosh...
