What about Outdoorsman Skill?

When you use your skill points on Outdoorsman Skill, what does it actually do? To me it seems all it does is making it harder finding any random encounters.

In some areas you're more likely to run into random encounters but overall there's not too much happening between the locations.

I have not tagged Outdoorsman Skill for a long time and still I rarely run into random encounters.

RE: What about Outdoorsman Skill?

I do not know if it makes it harder to find random encounters. It might be the case that you are traveling with a car and that that is way you do not get more encounters. Outdoorsman does let you choose if you want to go in to the encounter. If it is high enough and you encounter, let's say raiders, a window will pop up in wich it will ask you if you want to encounter them. If you click yes you'll come into the encounter. If you click no you keep on traveling to your destination. Besides that it gives you a little of exp. whenever this window pops up. I would not tag it however because you can pump this skill by talking to certain people and by reading books. Having it at a 100 % is good enough. I do this to avoid Enclave patrols on my way to Navarro if i do not have the APA.

RE: What about Outdoorsman Skill?

It lets you choose whether you want to avoid random encounters or not when you run into them. The higher your outdoorsman and level the more chance you have of getting the chance to avoid random encounters.

Outdoorsman does NOT affect the amount of random encounters you get, it only lets you get to choose to avoid them or not.
