Windows XP

I'm trying to load Fallout 2 on a Windows XP machine, but keep on getting the message that I need 20.0 MB (for saved game files?) to load it, but I still have about 5 GB. Worked fine on NT, 98 and 2000. I'm assuming there's a patch which I can't find.

RE: Windows XP

Unless you mean a patch for XP, you'd be assuming erroneously. No official patches have been released for the game in years. Besides, a patch wouldn't help you install because you can't patch what isn't on the comp already.

RE: Windows XP

Actually, there is a patch you can install first to make it work. It's called Windows 95.

RE: Windows XP

Have you tried the XP compatibility wizard? I couldn't get fallout 1 to work without it. I am afraid I haven't tried Fallout 2 yet.

RE: Windows XP

I am running Fallout 2 on Win XP professional.
I did the large install, and it runs with no problems so far.

Same here. No problems on XP whatsoever. No need to do a compatibility trick either.

What's your setup? I mean the partitions, their type (FAT? NTFS?), size. Which is your system partition? Which partition are you trying to install the game on? Do you have XP Professional or, gasp, XP Home? Did you install all Microsoft updates for XP?

RE: Windows XP

I had that problem too... Just do the 'humongeous' installation and it will work fine.

RE: Windows XP

Personally, i had to set the installer exe in compadibility mode for windows 98. I did a large installation on XP home, and it works fine. Just from personal experience.
