Included is Arcanum, so I thought I'd mention it here... $3. Not bad, even if you never liked it. xD I might give it another try someday. I mean how can you go wrong at $3? Unless of course the company goes belly up...

Too bad I've already got Arcanum, but it was worth what I paid to begin with...

They have Syberia for $5. Great deal on my second favourite adventure game (behind Riven).

Well I've installed Arcanum and started playing it a bit. I first tried the "idiot savant" background but quickly realized that intelligence means nothing without skills to go with it. xP (meaning a character who was 100% useless in all things, including combat).

So I restarted and was going to use normal intelligence... and quickly realized there were far too many dialogue options for my taste (and most of them probably meaningless anyway).. or maybe I had just grown fond of my "idiot speek" character.

[spoiler:f4eb2b35cb]At any rate, I restarted again and picked the feral trait. My character had a hard time at first, but thanks to a few well placed grenades (and turn based combat) I managed to clear the bridge at the first town. And she could finally afford some decent equipment after doing some odd jobs for the "house of ill-repute" at the large river town.

Still trying to do the main quest, but it takes a bit of luck to kill rock creatures at level 10+. I may have to explore the map a bit and see if there are some easier side-quests that can be done before moving on.. on a positive note, she's almost reached max dexterity and melee/dodge and can soon start gaining intelligence.. or is that a bad idea? She only has 2, but it would be nice to be able to (eventually) create healing salve.[/spoiler:f4eb2b35cb]

It's an old game, but I guess I should use spoiler tags anyway.. although I've said nothing pertaining to the storyline.

I've tried a few times to get into Arcanum, but I find it rather complex... I really enjoy it though.

I had a hard time too, but it's not so bad if you make a high dexterity character and focus mostly on melee and dodge skills until they are maxed out. I figure this way I can get used to the game, find out the maximums, and then on my 2nd playthrough I can try a different build.

I think it could have been done better, differently though. All the character points going into everything, and only one per level seems kinda harsh. I'd rathered had 1 point for characteristics, and 1 (or more) points to spend on skills per level. I hope the maximum level is pretty high, because otherwise I don't really see the benefit to being an inventor when you can't make use of the stuff you're making due to being a wimpy geek that can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Maximum level is 50 if I remember correctly.
So, don't worry, characters always tend to be a little overpowered in the end of the game. The beginning is the hardest part, you feel you can't do anything and progression is slow.

Also, the better memories I have are with my Inventor build...
