Gran turismo 5 Prologue

Finally! Gran turismo 5, or some thing like it, with F430s, R8s, and GT-Rs no less. This is a *massive* step forward from GT4, which left you wanting with car choice (new models). Graphics are amazing as well.

For being a fan of Xbox 360, I'll say that this game does look gorgeous. It has Forza beat, but they won't have the physics (Polyphony has never gotten that right, though I do like GT). And, seeing a GT-R33 at the front of the pack in one of the pics warms my heart. :)

The R33 has been unveiled, and it is pretty nice. What I'm excited about is that now they have Ferrari's (F430, yay!) and Porsches (911 GT3 RS please) , something no fan of racing or cars in general wants to do without and was a major sticking point (for me it was) with GT4.

But those graphics are pure amazing.

Yeah, it's pretty much the GT5 ver. 0.9. Not quite 1.0, but a lot of cars and tracks go into that last little bit.

So what's the point of it? Is it free or are you supposed to buy this and then download the rest later?

Just as was the case with Gran Turismo 3 and 4, a Prologue edition will be released prior to the full game's introduction. These releases have always served as a teaser for the upcoming full game, though in the case of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, it'll also serve as a test for the online play. We're not sure to what extent the online features will be present, but they will in fact be included.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will play something like a mix between the Arcade and GT modes of past titles. Past Prologue releases have been largely focused on license tests, but that won't be the case here as GT5 Prologue will play more like the full game. A number of events will be present for you to race in, each garnering you some cash and a prize (presumably a car). Tuning will not be present, however, though it will of course be in the full release.

One cool incentive for sinking a ton of hours into Prologue is the fact that any cash or vehicles that you earn will transfer over to Gran Turismo 5.
Yes, you'll have to pay for it, but (presumably) cheaper than a full game, of course. There's also speculation it'll be downloadable from the PS3's online service.

So they want you to pay for this and then pay for the full game? Do people do that?
