How did you discover Fallout ?

Had a game design camp as a kid, couldn't have been more than ten or eleven. Anyway, the camp instructors had Fallout 2 running on their PC's, and I remember them projecting it onto the white-board. It was weird, there have been only two times in my life where I got that "You can do anything!" feeling in a game, the first being Fallout 2, and the latter being Deus Ex.

Anyway, found Fallout 3 years later, played that, loved it incidentally. Not so much for the writing, which was flat out bad in almost all areas, but it was my first foray back into that world. I was also 15, so take that for what you will.
 
I discovered Fallout through retrospective articles on local PC games magazines. Some years later, a friend of mine got Fallout 1 and 2 as a bundle in such a magazine, and gave them to me. I used them to install Fallout 1, I got to Junktown, but I didn't finish the game. After a couple of years, I got GOG's editions for free, and finally completed the first game.
 
I began my love of all things Fallout with FO3. I played 3 on the Xbox soon after its release and fell in love. I have been playing it and New Vegas for years, but only recently delved into the classics. I was gifted the Fallout Anthology and decided to give the older titles a shot. I attempted to get into Fallout 2 multiple times, but found it too frustrating to play. It was a while before I would try one of the classics again. After feeling empty from the complete lack of RPG elements in Fallout 4, I decided to experience the original Fallout to go back to the roots of the series. The gameplay and UI were tough to work with, and frustrating at times, but the story, fleshed out characters, and choice-based storyline made it feel rewarding and charming. I will have to play it again sometime after I have forgotten how annoying the final boss fight was(111 dmg on crit is obscene).
 
Came in at FO2 in 2003. I broke my leg playing rugby and was off work with no money. Scraped together enough to buy the game for £4.99 and played it to death.

I've played FO2 through about 5 times, FO twice, FO3 once, FO NV twice. Never touched Tactics and I'm stalled about half way through FO4 (the airship just arrived)
 
December, 1998. Mate of mine gave me a copy of Fallout 2 in school. Never looked back. Well, except to hunt down a copy of Fallout 1, but that was some time later.

I remember my friends and I being very excite for Brotherhood of Steel on the Xbox. It turns out I was an idiot and my friends were insane idiots.
 
Well, may as well do another one of these.

I got into the series with Fallout 3, I remember thinking it was kind of strange and didn't really know what was going on (I remember wondering why I was moving slowly and couldn't run and being attacked by Raiders). But then I played more of it and I ended up loving. it and played it for pretty much two years straight. I remember looking at videos of the older games and thinking to myself (This looks pretty good). But yeah, me and my brother would spend hours playing through Fallout 3.

So then fast forward to 2010, New Vegas is being teased and I'm pretty much fanboying over it at this point, so I pre order the collector's edition of the game as it came out a few days after my Birthday (I was 16 at this point).
While browsing game just days before it was released, I came across Fallout Collection on the PC for £5, so I bought it and played the first one. I remember feeling a bit disappointed as I thought movement was done via WASD. Also, playing it felt very different to watching playthroughs of it. But this feeling didn't last long as after an hour, I was really into it.

I remember it taking me a few tries just to get the Water Chip, sadly, I never moved passed that bit as I found the LT too hard to kill.
It wasn't until earlier this year, when I rebought the games (this time in individual cases so it looks nicer on my shelf) that I downloaded Fallout Fixt and the Restoration Project that I went through both games and completed them with fairly good endings.

It's funny through as no other game gets me as hyped as New Vegas does, I still go through another playthrough every now and then. But my latest go at Fallout 3 just leaves me jarred. I still enjoy 3, but not as much as I used to. But maybe that's my hatred of 4 shining through.
 
I got started with Fallout 3, after searching for games after playing Telltale's The Walking Dead. Yeah, barely 4 years ago, I found Fallout 3 to have great reviews and ratings.

I purchased it, and enjoyed the game, but found it to be very confusing.

Then came good ol' Fallout New Vegas, which just really lightened up everything that Fallout 3 missed. I mean, I could do anything. I didn't have to enter those irritating metro system that Bethesda had to put in, and I could do whatever I wanted, and it really felt weird, because I went from House to NCR, and then to Yes Man, because I did something stupid, which is really great, because everything you do matters.

Then came Fallout 4. Let's just say that I had never wished for a Mojave Winter more.
 
I played Fallout 3 quite a few years ago and liked it a lot on Xbox 360. So maybe a year after that, my uncle gave me some old computer games and I got to play it on my laptop. Then I tried to get it on steam but it didn't work well. So I bought New Vegas and fell in love with it instead. Maybe a year or two ago I bought the Fallout collection (1, 2, and tactics) for dirt cheap from a steam deal. Only really started playing the earlier Fallouts about a year ago.
 
I saw the FO4 trailer when it was first announced, & since it had the Bethesda name attached to it, I knew I had to play it. Sadly, my PC at the time had a hard time running PDFs, so I bought New Vegas instead. Now, two years later, with around 500 hours on all 6 games, & I regret none of it.
 
Somewhere in 2003. I saw a guy playing Fallout 2 in internet cafe. I was impressed with setting and how many dialugue options there where.
 
Back when New Vegas was first released, I kept seeing people posting about this post-apocalyptic game, with some kind of spoof Roman Empire. It looked kinda cool, so I decided to give it a try.

Ended up spending the whole summer playing New Vegas non-stop, it was incredible. Then I decided to move on to Fallout 3, which felt like an extreme let down. I figured it was just one of the older instalments, where they still hadn't figured out where they were going with it, so shrugged it off and returned to New Vegas.

That was until, I saw a discussion on steam, where people were actively arguing that the first two were far better than 3, and so I was kinda fascinated, so purchased the first 2 games, and ended up loving the shit out them.
 
Fallout 3 was actually my first experience with the franchise. I didn't get into PC gaming until quite a while after 1/2/Tactics had been out, and Fallout 3 was really my first time hearing about the series in any major sense. After that I played the originals, then New Vegas when it came out, and then I realized how terrible 3 was in comparison. I wish I'd had a better start, but better late to the party than never. Still, for all its faults, I have fond memories of my time in D.C., but I wouldn't go through it again.
 
Well, tehnically I "discovered" Fallout twice. First time it was when I was a young kid, who bought a gaming magazine with 3 CD. The CD contained Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout: Tactics. I decided to install Fallout 2 first, becouse the cover image seemed cooler for me. I run the game, watched that great intro (which burned into my memory) and... Not impresed. Temple of trials... not the best start I've imagined. I abandoned the games for years.

Then came the year 2011, when I decided to purchase Fallout New Vegas (mostly to the warm review one of my friends). And I must say that was the first RPG since Morrowind that connected with me soo much. And then, there was THAT quest, that made me wanting to expand my knowledge of the series. The quest in question was "For Auld Lang Syne". The moment I saw Remnants Armor the memory of awesome intro from Fallout 2 kicked me straight into the head. After finishing that playthrough of NV I decided to play the original games. I LOVED them, however getting used to the archaic interface was quite a painful process.

After playing all classic Fallouts the time has come to play Fallout 3... And I didn't liked it, don't get me wrong, I played it quite a lot, but it felt so hallow. And now when Fallout 4 is the thing... well... I liked it more than 3, and I enjoyed it even! But it is a flawed product, very, very flawed product, I dare to say even a crappy product. I took havy modding from my part (and some mods from nexus) to make it worth my while. At the end of the day, Bethesda lost my respect, and I'm not willing to buy their next game, unless the decide to fix the issues with their "RPG's" (and I'm generous describing their games with that term).

watched a video comparing Borderlands and Fallout. Went to Gamestop, decided to pick up FO3. Played it, got outside of the vault, went to a Caravan. Game freezes. I quit and give FO3 to a friend. Get it back later on, play up until you fight Super Mutants before Three Dog. Game has a game breaking glitch. I rage. Don't play it for a long time. (btw i played Fallout like it was fps shooter game, aka killing whoever I please.) Fallout 4 comes out and a friend gives me his download code for FO3. I play it and love it, no glitches, I understood how to play a rpg by now so I was playing pretty nice and that. Got a weird Liberty Prime glitch where he just walks in place on the final mission, never bothered to beat the game. (glitches like this piss me off and make me quit the game) Then I purchased New Vegas, expecting it to be not as good as FO3. I was immediately wrong. I binge played my first run as a Legion player. Since then I have had about 580 hours in New Vegas. Played a little bit of FO4 at a friends. So far I have hated what I played. (i played up until you escort them back to concord (encountered 5 glitches and shit) and quit when it forced me to make a settlement) Just started FO1 and it's hard to get used to the controls but I like it so far, kinda got stuck in the one Vault though because Ian trapped me in a corner and I have to restart from the beginning, not that far but I am a pussy bitch.
 
I got my first PC back in 2000, but prefered FPS at first. One of my friends brought Fallout 2 to me, but I didn't quite understand it at that time. Then in 2002 I tried it again...and become addicted to it at once - maybe because it was an English version, the first one I tried was Russian, an frankly, our Russian localizations of foreign games usually suck a lot. After that, getting English versions of Fallout 1 and then Tactics have become my greatest priority. And one day it happened of course, after which I got even more addicted to Fallout!
 
Fixt rules undoubtedly! And the Restoration Project of F2 (God bless Kiilap), and F1,5 Resurrection too (praise our Czech brothers)! And you know what? F3 also rules, and even 4 (although I need a huge upgrade to run it). NV and Tactics too! Just try not to compare newest games with the classics, enjoy each game separately, and you'll be fine!

I first got into Fallout with the game i'm not supposed to mention here, then went on to New Vegas and then finally bought 1,2 and tactics. I also bought 4 but that is literally the worst piece of shit ever made.
 
I saw it on Venturiantale ( yes I know he is weird) but that got me into New Vegas. Before that iv seen only videos turned into memes from it.
 
Started when i was eleven with new vegas. Went back to three then to the OG ones and now i play them all. My stepdad had new vegas and i decided to try it out. It was super unique from any other game i had played since then
