IanOut - a post-nuclear Ian-playing game

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
I've got an alternate to Fallout 3: IanOut, which is a Total Conversion of the original game. It's speciality is, that it is designed to be easily moddable.
The First Beta can be downloaded from the following link. There you can also find some screenshots.

Well, it's not a "Total conversion"... As a total conversion would be a game using the same engine making a whole new story... This is a new engine :). Great work...

But I'm wondering wether the colours are right, they look too bright, but it might just be me...

They do look a bit bright, but it might be scaleable in terms of brightness. Scaling it down from that brightness in daytime, and with that night-time shot, would make night much darker. Probably best to tone down the brightness a bit for daytime.

Also, another thing...to be blunt, that host sucks balls. Great big sweaty donkey cojones. I can guarantee that I and a majority of the rest of the viewers will not go to some site on a shitty host that has a homepage prompt every goddamn time I visit the site, regardless of how good the site in question is. Not only is a homepage set prompt discourteous as hell, but it's also irrelevent, and annoying as hell. Why the hell am I going to change my homepage to some shitty no-name search engine?

On that note, I changed the BBCode in the initial post so that it does point to the site, but there's a problem. Something about that host doesn't like it directed to from a message board or in a pop-up window, I guess. From the front page of this site, fine. Copy/paste into a fresh browser window, fine. Clicked on so it goes into a new window, it takes a shit.

Great work! Let's keep it up!

This seems great. No Fallout 3? At least we could make one...
I'm dreaming, aren't I.

GREAT work, though!

Ok, this might sound really stupid but how can I install it?
I dowloaded the rar file but it tells me "Next volume is required" whatever.
What do I have to do?

You also need to download R00 and R01. Once you have all three, just unzip the RAR and the data from all three volumes will be unpacked.

Use the + and - buttons in the numpad to change the gamma (and brightness), or change the gamma property in the IanOut.ini

and about the host: if someone know a host, that is free, where I can use FTP uploading, AND from ehre everyone can download the game (because for example www.tar.hu works only in Hungary) then please tell me. I've tried lycos, and geocities, but they unfortunately mess up the RAR-R00-R01 files

hosting..

We could probably host you, pm me about it..And I'll see what I can do..

Sure, and thank you for explaining that. The main point I had, however, was that if that is how dark night is, and how bright day is, then you're going to be regularly changing it depending upon time of day. Perhaps a tweak up of night-time brightness and then drop down the overall, or drop down the daytime brightness.

Anyways, it does look great. As for hosting, talk to Odin as he's got a lot of the details on what to do, etc. and I think it would be no problem at all to both give you hosting and also see about giving you a news authority to post for updates.

Unfortunately that's a part, where the game should be fine-tuned. I always put theese things last in my priority order, because they are not very important.
As you've seen onme of the main problem are the graphics. I haven't played Fallout for half a year, and I don't remember how it exactly looked like.[/quote]
