Please tell me I'm not the only person here who likes the Legion? If I'm not please feel free to post what you like about the Legion, or not. I'm willing to respond, hell make a debate if you want.

Ave Amicus, huge Legion Fanboy over here! For all the nu Enclave fans out there who love fascist badguy factions, the Legion gets no love; what gives?

Well, the roman inspiration is spot on. The soldiers designation, their currency, the frumentarii. Even tough the people from Obidisian couldn´t flesh the legion has they intended, they still made a good job.

Exactly! I don't get it, especially as the Legion are way more unique then the boring fascist enclave, who are just government conspiracy creations.

Caesar has the best plan for the West. If he succeeds, the US can truly be rebuilt.

In my opinion, they are like the NCR, but worse. NCR wants to go back to a failed system that ended up in a nuclear war, Legion's answer is to go back even more in history and bring something even more failed?

Now I really sympathize with The Unity and the Followers of the Apocalypse. NCR and Legion for me is a no-no. Enough with the old world bullshit!

The Legion were better than the NCR, at least ideologically speaking. If you want to rebuild civilisation it's better to go back to it's roots then it is to copy a corrupt democracy that turned into an oligarchy.
Of course they have their serious drawbacks such as lack of a sane military leadership, their treatment of women and, that Mr. House existed as a better alternative to them taking over the Mojave but otherwise they're alright in my book.

Caesar´s goal wasn´t to rebuild civilization, but to start a new one, with him has the centerpiece.

Caesars placement at the centre of the empire does have it's serious drawbacks but hey, he's a creative guy I'm sure he can figure out a way to shift the attention onto somebody else and secure the future of the Legion (like say for example, hegelian dialectics).
And even though he's building a new civilisation he's still you know bringing order to orderless places and that's kinda good.
More failed? The Roman empire lasted (approximately) 677 years, longer if you count the Byzantine empire, and under its rule thousands of significant advances in science, philosophy, art, medicine and, warfare were made; true they had allot of emperors that were screwed up in the head, rampant corruption and, a suffering peasantry but otherwise they worked out fine.

No, the legion is bound to fail (some characters comment on that), Caesar had a brain tumor and that was affecting his tactics and its mentioned that Lanius can´t rule the legion like Caesar can.

Just a reminder, @Dr Fallout. Just because the Mongol Empire and the Western Roman Empire functioned excellently under their ideals doesn't mean the Legion holds true to those ideals. The only one who wants the Legion to be like the empires you mentioned is Edward Sallow himself, while all of the people serving under him are just ambitious tribals with better education. It falls apart without him, and even Sallow himself isn't without fault.

Its just as failed as the modern system, because it still is a class divided society. These problems, corruption, suffering peasantry and even the nuclear war, are all consequences of private property and class divided society.

Wasteland as it is in New Vegas, is a consequence of capitalism, and that is a consequence of older economical systems. So, the way I see it, makes no sense to go back to a ancient system that will result in "war never change" situation.

The Unity proposed something completely different, where everyone would be part of a big collective hivemind, same as the Followers of the Apocalypse but less... Radical maybe?

I like how the Legion walk in pretty much a straight line on the way to "ambush" me, it lets me make sure the sights are aligned properly on my trail carbine.

Bethesda AI. I feel sorry for the Obsidian devs who had to work with that engine. It was probably in the requirements somewhere, "Metacritic score must be this high and game must also be at least this broken for you to get the bonus".

I downloaded a mod that improves the AI, but I haven't extensively tested it tbh. At first glance, AI seems a bit more smart now, at least they run for cover. But seriously, New Vegas is kinda easy game, thats the bad shit in going first person imo, mechanical skills matter too much (if you play Chivalry: Medieval Warfare for example, melee gets bloody easy in NV), and AI can be easily exploited using its difficulty to navigate the environment. I mean, because of this I can easily destroy that Deathclaw nest near the prospector city that I forgot the name! Go to a high ground, when enemies get close you go to lower ground, they get close again you go high ground again, rinse and repeat. Especially effective against melee opponents like those scorpions near Goodsprings!

But every playthrough, I find so hard to be on Legion side, I mean... How can that be any good, everyone is on shitty conditions but Caesar and his elite, just like NCR. I find them rather hypocrites tbh, sending waves and waves of people into the meat grinder for what? Fight the NCR and its corruption? Their flawed political conceptions? And how exactly are they any different from that?

The way I see it, they are the same as NCR but pre-modern, with a charismatic and lunatic leader. Both systems are essentially flawed and will result in "war never changes" bullshit again. The wasteland is prof enough that these systems should be destroyed.

I'm a huge Romaboo so it may be my bias but I really like the Legion. Nothing will ever trump the power fantasy "Independent Vegas" endings but if it wasn't for that I'd probably shack up with the Legion. Rome is also a way better basis for a new civilization than the Pre-War government. We see a lot of more advanced and educated people in the Mojave but most of the world are trash-tier independent tribes.

Actually this perception is mostly due to how little content the Legion got. The majority of citizens in the Legion's quality of life increased immensely. No more raiders, no more struggling for food, actual protection, law, education and more advance stuff in general. Remember, most of the people Caesar has added to the Legion started as basically people living in the mud and flinging their shit at eachother when he found them.

Its true what you say, but isn't that the same as the NCR? They did helped some people, "civilized" some places, raiders etc, but with a flawed social-economical system as basis, just like the Legion.

I understand they both make progress to places they settle, but it cost a lot to people, and will cost even more as it grows. NCR as evidence of that, how many lives were lost in stupid battles for the private property? Same with Caesar. The whole Hoover Dam thing is no more then this.

The whole Wasteland as I see it is a big opportunity to overcome these old systems. Everywhere you look in the wastes there is evidence on how failed these ideas are, and how much damage private property caused and still causes
. Thats why I'm with both the Master and the Followers, these two show us what a next step in social economical systems could be, although the Master plan was essentially flawed as well, because super mutants can't reproduce right. Its really a shame! It would be so interesting to see that idea succeeding, the new world would be something really different, but it could be good even looking bad, who knows.

The issue with the NCR compared to the Legion is that they don't have the resources. They can't keep their roads safe like the Legion does, they can't guarantee safety like the Legion does. They're stretched far too thin. Also Hoover Dam is a major source of electricity that can be used to power the entire Mojave+. It's hardly a superficial gain for "private property".
