The first trailer featuring gameplay footage from Avalanche's Mad Max is out, although I have to note that it's more "in-engine footage" than actual gameplay:

That's a well made trailer! Had it been for the next movie I would watch it. Still wonder what they will offer in forms of fun gameplay. GTA with scavenging instead of theft?

I really hate it when developers/publishers/whatevers decide to put out trailers and they do CGI ones that show nothing of the actual game bar some thematic elements and story elements (which might end up being twisted) or when they put out live-action trailers that just seem like an even bigger waste of a trailer (I mean come on, at least CGI trailers show off dem c00l graphix yo, but live-action? We have films for that, with way better effects) but this is just getting absurd.

"Oh hey we got a new trailer out! Yeah it shows off the gameplay so we nicked it the "gameplay trailer" no it is not a gameplay trailer as it shows not a single scrap of actual gameplay, ingame content being shown in a cinematic fashion is 'not' gameplay.

*sigh* Am I demanding too much from the video game industry? Is it really too much to ask that they give us some actual gameplay so we can decide whether we're interested or not? Maybe that's it though, maybe they know people would steer clear of the game if they showed actual gameplay so they hype it up and avoid gameplay videos at all cost so that people will buy/pre-order it before they can realize that the game is actually shit.

I've learned my lesson from being drawn in by the hype-machine before, until they show me some actual gameplay (10 minutes at the very least) then I have no interest in it, even if it is Mad Max.

    Meh...
Might be cool if the gameplay is good. If Fallout or Wasteland had never existed, this would more interesting, but it's just a relaunch of something that influenced Fallout. Basically just an unevolved version of a common theme that's in use now. That's the problem with bringing back such an old IP, especially one that helped to shape subsequent media so much. It's like making a Saving Private Ryan video game in a market saturated with WW2 shooters.

Looks pretty boring to me so far, but that could change. If they went with the more modern-day, ordinary look of the first movie that might make it more unique. Also, it bothers me that the character looks nothing like Mel Gibson, but maybe they would've had to pay him for that.

    That looked horrible.

Why the fuck would you take Mad Max from Australia? what? is America in desperate need of some new action heroes?

I was hyped watching the E3 trailer, but into the trash it goes.

Doesn't it reek a bit to much of post-apocalyptic? What's up with that boss with the chainsaw and the cybernetic augments of some sort?

None of these elements fit into Mad Max very well. I'm taking this will be Mad Max in name only.

I like Mad Max, Just Cause 2 and Post-Apo settings.

That said, this looked completely uninteresting.

Still I remain a bit hopeful though.

    It's a fine trailer.
On the other hand, it's a dumb CGI sh*t. As usual, this shi* won't have anything to do with the actual game, at least not graphically.
I just hope F*ckthesda stays far away from it.

Simply looks boring. Generic, unoriginal, there's absolutely nothing that can surprise the viewer.

It's not CGI. There's already a CGI trailer out for it, and besides, the footage here presents all the signs: low-resolution textures, jaggies, less refined lighting, etc.

It's not *gameplay* (well, there are some very minor bits of it captured without HUD and in "cinematic camera angles", but y'know, cut like that you don't really get an impression of how the game plays), but that doesn't mean it's not in-engine.

And, uh, that Bethesda mention was random as hell. They are not involved in the title's development, the publisher is Warner Bros.

Yes, this trailer is a computer generated video, it's a CGI trailer. I don't know if you are trying to lie, or simply do not know what CGI means, but I don't even care to be honest.
No, the mentioning of Bethesda was not totally random. I'm sorry that you are so simple that you cannot see the connection between this, and Fallout, another post-apocalyptic franchise f*cked up by them. I have simply expressed my hope that they will not have any part in developing this game.

Repeating a thing over and over won't make it more true. It's perfectly possible to capture gameplay footage without HUD and changing camera angles. Besides, if your definition of CGI is simply "rendered on a computer", than any game you play on a computer is CGI too. The point is: this wasn't pre-rendered. This wasn't a Blur-made trailer. They took some footage from the engine, toyed with the camera angles and cut it in a way to make it seem more exciting than it is.

As for your Bethesda mention.. again, AVALANCHE is developing this, and it's published by Warner Bros. So, yeah, your mention of Bethesda made no sense, as their name isn't attached to the project in any way.

EDIT: Decided to make the post less antagonistic, even if frankly I think my annoyance at your tone is perfectly understandable and justified.

I can't be the only one disappointed that the character doesn't look like Mel Gibson. I know the man's a raging, morally bankrupt idiot, but Mad Max still has his face.

I guess they're probably trying to make it look like Tom Hardy, who I like to pretend doesn't exist, because he's fucking ubiquitous lately and I really, really hate him as an actor. I'm still depressed over his casting as Mad Max. Once upon a time I liked Joseph Gordon-Leavitt, too; that was before he was also in every fucking movie on earth in unbelievable roles.

Have you watched Bronson, it's a pretty impressive role by Tom Hardy. Mind you I haven't seen any other of the films he's been in so he might be fairly average, but he's good in Bronson. I'll be very sad if the new Mad Max movies suck, as for this game...meh.

For whatever reason (I dont want to get too into without offending people) the American public on the whole seem to have a hard time 'grasping' or 'connecting' with media that isnt set in the United States.

That actually looks like how I imagined Rage to be. Let's wait and see if the gameplay will be any good or if it's just fancy trailer.

Maybe the game consists of watching disconnected clips of unintelligible violence while some tart rambles on about nihilism and crappy music plays in the background.
