I've been building a bigger map for testing purposes, approximately 8x8 grids (the blue square regions), and it started out fine enough but over time as I built onto the map I have been encountering crashes. Not to mention the crash seems to glitch out the game for a while after the crash (reopening the game after the crash is met with the game chugging at about 1 frame per 3 seconds).
I am wondering what specifically causes this kind of issue? Is it the number of tiles on a map, or the number of different tiles? Is it a CPU/GPU limitation based crash? I have also made a few new folders containing huge amounts of tiles that I use in helping build maps faster, would that be a factor at all either?
It's not clear what the exact problem is because I copy pasted a bunch of buildings into the map and only started getting the crash while I was customizing the buildings to look broken up, not when I was copy pasting them onto the map.
I just thought I'd ask others what they know about this kind of issue before I try cutting the map in half.
