Metalheart interview at FileFront

Filefront has uploaded an interview with one of the producers of Metalheart: Replicants Rampage. While some of the interview is serious, there are a few questions that are complete jokes (two questions on the issue of nipples on spacesuits!), and an occasional joke answer to a serious question.
Q: With so many other RPG titles out there, what did you do to try and avoid falling into too many clichés?

A:
As you know, there are only about 30 typical dramatic situations in our life. Art - and game development as a considerable part of it - only mirrors such situations. So there are very few opportunities to discover something really revolutionary. So, the project is considered good if it includes a piece of it, a part of this and a small bit of that, thus consisting of a rational mix of many known elements. A developer should just present a fresh look on such a mix. The sum-total ought to add up to convey a touch of brilliance. Concerning some RPG stamps, I must point out that the players themselves might miss some good-old long-forgotten clichés, in other words - isometric view, post-apocalyptic world, random encounters… Well, you get what I mean.
That last part of his answer seems like he has a specific game in mind, or perhaps that is wishful thinking.

As the developers state on the MetalHeart web site, here's the quote
"The game successfully affirms all the best traditions of intelligent RPG such as Fallout and Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura. Metalheart: Replicants Rampage will satisfy even the most refined taste of true connoisseurs." URL is http://www.metalheart.ru/english/info.html

This could be something in the vein of the above mentioned games.
I hope they succeed, because the artwork and scenery looks quite nice.

.......being forced to play pre-made characters is completely like Fallout and Arcanum!..damn i must stop going on about that

playing premade character doesn't mean there is no option for characters developement. it even can be seen as adbantage as player start with unshaped character and developes it and not just start with one without any or with little explanation how he/she became what he/she is now .... whole biographi crap.

"uh oh, i'm gonna be a sniper"
really ? who thought you shooting
"umm, dunno, parrents ?"
oh, describe them
"ermm, oh, they're dead
so who took care of you
".... dunno"

Great, just another dude without personality, out of nowhere and with holy quest to just beat the game >.<

I recall Planescape:Torment as a thoroughly enjoyable game (although not as funky as any of the Fallouts), and you were forced to play a pre-made character. Heck, you couldn't even change his name ;) . As long as they let the players select the stats, skills and whatnot, and the sacrifice be not in vain (i.e.: excellent storyline, great in-depth appreciation of the character's quest, etc.), it should work fine.

One thing though...replayability, a brilliant aspect in both Fallout games, will surely suffer a big hit. If the translation's good enough, mayhaps I'll buy it.

Hope my first post wasn't that bad...been reading this forum for a while and most newbies tend to get flamed quite a lot.

Na, only newbs that are clueless/annoying.

And I gotta agree being locked into premade characthers would deffinatly limit playability.
