So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
I thought I want to give something back to the modding community so I opened up this thread. I thought of something similar like the scenery art thread, where people could post their stuff for everyone to use - or to request something. People always could use some new and fresh stuff for their mods, so why not new audio? ;> So go on you crazy coding guys, request stuff from us puny audio guys! I am sure I am not the only one doing music and sfx stuff here, so sheesh, out with you and help the modders here. :look: I'll update stuff people uploaded to this first post here.

Code:
Wasteland's Chimes Figure 2 (43mb - 320kb/s mp3)

1- "After It" (03:33)
2- "Forgotten Armies" (04:01)
3- "A Farmers Life" (02:59)
4- "A Ghostly Town" (03:07)
5- "Howls Of The Dead" (04:22)
6- "More Meat For The Grinder" (01:51)
7- "The Search For Tech" (03:03)

Anyhow, I want to start with this here, it's a compilation of pure ambience tracks for fallout games or similar "dark" themed mods/games/etc. They are pretty sinister and not really full of melodies, just cold background ambience. You may use them all in your mod, movie or just listen to it. Yes, the cover is cheesy, it was drawn for me by supfinal in the FOnline forum. ;) Hope you find some use for it! Here is the download for the package ( 43mb). All files in 320 kbp/s, if you need them in .acm fileformat, I'll upload them later.

Tomorrow I will upload a small pack of Soundeffects I made for my own mod, so people who want to have something new for their mods, like fight grunts, death screams, HtH swings and such they might find something usefull in there.

While all tracks sound good in my ear, they sadly don't really fit into the old tracks. I think they are too loud? Or have too much stuff in them? Or not industrial enough? At least some of the melodies are too much here and there, I think.

Hm, I looked at all the amplitudes and volumes and it wasn't more then the tracks from MM in Fallout.. I could only lower the trebles or mids maybe...

Nice move. I like this idea also you made some cool audio files. The one I like the most is the "A Ghostly Town" the others are good too but this is the one I like the most.

Very good music. I can see your influences. One song, "After It" IIRC, has some errors and stutters occasionally so you might check that one out

I think that it sounds good. Although maybe a little "off" in some way or another, I don't think that hearing them in game would make me uncomfortable or something.

Certainly better than the crappy rehashed Oblivion tracks in FO3, but that's not saying much.

Good move, bad sounds.

I'm honest as usual.

Also, there is a certain dead project, called Fan Made Fallout, that has some catchy, original, although not always finished ambiances, which might be useful for somebody. I must know, I salvaged pre-war crap at their FTP! :D

Obviously. Actually, lets just castrate people daring enough to use the "bad" word. That would be something!

Well, Surf, you got heavily inspired by the original Fallout ambience music, i wouldn't call it bad. In fact, i enjoyed Howls of the Dead, which reminded me somewhat on Eric Serra. I may be in err, but i could even hear something from Yoko Kanno in The Search For Tech.
Farmer's life' intro sounded like ChemicalBrothers and i could pretty imagine Modoc. Peaceful Modoc, not one from FOnline.

More Meat For The Grinder sounded truly like Tactics, Forgotten Armies and After It had a promising intro, but a Ghostly Town was overall disappointing, even if 1:00 Serra' -ish crescendo was nice to hear.

I wished, you'd put in the rusty flute tunes from Waterworld, but i guess you did well enough, Surf.

Possible me else such good music?

Much want something like original "Metallic Monks", "Vats" and "Blue Grass" from FOnline OST.

Thanks for all the honest comments, but this thread wasn't only centered at me (more vice versa...) I wanted this thread to be a little hub for other audio guys, not only me.

And so far I understand all your comments, but "it's bad" won't really help me to improve the sounds, sorry.. Alvarez was a bit more help, but I'd like more concrete suggestions to what can sound better and what not... This is my style of making music, I can only do this, but I could improve if you guys would call what can be improved (what I would appreciate...)..

Anyway, I am uploading these promised Soundeffects right now. (sorry, it takes a while, Computer is fucked and internetspeed is almost at 56kmodem rate...)

Tracks:
1. Everything's Asleep
2. Howls of the Dead
3. Forgotten Armies
Maybe... Wood. Good luck!

I find this very relaxing. Just sit back in my chair and have a nap while listening to this. Very good.
But I agree with Lexx, they (some of them) are not industrial enough, and it can also make a good "dark" background stuff.
Oh and in the "After It" at about 0:45 it seems like there is an error of some sort (don't know the proper term), like some sounds in the song are "cut out". But maybe it's just me...
Hope you make more stuff like this.

My only suggestion would be to re-record the first track, "After It", and let us know when you do. As others have said, there are a few glitches in the recording, probably caused by a transfer error of some sort. Otherwise, it all sounds great to me!

Sorry for the delay I had some trouble in real life, the track can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?7li2w7x2qf6aodo

I'm now up to upload the promised SFX and the tracks in .acm format.

Not sure where to post this, but I just would like to say that the FOnline OST is fucking AMAZING!

[EDIT: Surf Solar i'm not trying to downplay or disregard your work, I enjoy it for sure, but I found myself continually blown away while listening to the FOnline soundtrack. I need to give your stuff another serious sit-down-and-listen, I haven't done it since my HDD fried.]

Anyway, -- Professional-quality stuff  I don't honestly know if it feels 100% "Fallout-y" to me; much of it almost reminds me more of something that should be in a Cyberpunk RPG like Deus Ex or Restricted Area. Regardless though, Awesome is Awesome irrelative to genre ;)

Is Xcentric Noizz also someone active on NMA, or just an otherwise-not-affiliated artist that was 'hired' to do the FOnline music?

Me likey
