RE: Giving in to stupidity.
Then they would just do what Interplay did for Wasteland and make another series.
Wasteland->Fallout->?
Also, all that people seem to care about is that something has the name of Fallout on it, not the fact that the game isn't really going to BE Fallout anymore. And BIS isn't going to be making it (not really likely they would), so it's going to be further fucked over.
Like I said on the DAC Fo2 board:
So it will just have the Fallout name, and none of the TALENT, or SKILL that BIS has in making games. Which some of Interplay has lacked. A multiplayer tactics game with the name of Fallout.
Will it be Fallout in the least? Not really. Not at all.
As Xotor has dubbed it,
Fallout Tactics: POS.
--------------------------
It's becoming to be like Final Fantasy. The name drives the popularity, so does the droves of cattle that moo over the eye-candy. Not to mention that the game itself has gotten shittier with each installment. I know die-hard FFVII fans that played FFVIII for merely an hour, then took a blowtorch to it. And guess what? Almost none of those who played the original Final Fantasy still play any of the more recent games. FFVI was the last one I really enjoyed.
Next, onto Ultima.
A good game, really good. Unfortunately, greed and shitty planning screwed over numbers 8 and 9. Super Avatar Brothers and Virtue Raider. Kind of harsh, especially when it comes from the game's largest fan group, the UDIC. Sarenthalanos Dragon (myself) coined the one for UIX. Why did the game turn shitty? Because Richard Garriot sold out to EA and whomever. Kind of hard to say no when the royalties get you enough money to build a castle. But the end result, the game turned to crap, losing the original concepts and gameplay set forth since Ultima IV and continued on until Ultima VII, parts I and II.
Now, the relevant point when it comes to this, is not that Heroes of Might and Magic was successful, nor that there is going to be a tactics game using the Fallout world, but that Interplay and part of BIS are entertaining ideas of following all the kiddies in wanting good eye candy, combat-intensive, watered-storyline, etc.
So many complained about how Planescape: Torment was too wordy. Those are exactly the kids raised on Diablo that wouldn't have an idea of a real RPG if it bit them on the ass. They actually think Diablo and FF are RPG games. Like I said to the kids on the PS:T board:
"Too many words? Must be a challenge to break out a thesaurus and learn something, huh? I know it's different from what you REALLY crave, Diablo and the Diablo-clones Baldur's Gate and Nox, where the "Role-Playing" consisted of a level-system and "go there, kill that, retrieve the other thing". How about you go off and play Wasteland, Fallout, Fallout 2 and get a clue...oh, wait...you said that PS:T was too wordy, so I doubt you'd like other real CRPG games.
So, go back to your Diablow, your Baldur's Gate, your Nox. Leave REAL CRPGs to those who love them, and stop insisting on fvcking with something you really don't understand."
Problem is:
Trends
+ Children without a clue

Games that amount to shit
And now Interplay is going the same way as Origin.
Sad, completely sad.
