Humph. I wonder if this is going to piss off any of those "Fallout as anything but an RPG will ruin the game" people, and if it's going to be anything like the "Heroes of Fallout" game that that one company wanted to make.

"Shazam! SHAZAM! SHAZAM!"

Interplay/Black Isle has sunken to a new low. They have given in to the pressure of an ignorant crowd. May the game flop so hard as to bankrupt Interplay.

Didn't someone have that idea

Sir Medium Sized Jesus Mordino

Keep in mind that I just started revisiting if different people have suggested this idea, but, nonetheless, didn't a person come to the board a while ago with an idea for A Brotherhood of Steel game.

It was some crazy idea for an arena where people in the BOS duke it out with each other and mutants. Oh that's real Fallout, reaaaallll Fallout.

Now where's my nuclear bomb.....

Come on, come on guys, relax.......

It is for sure that BiS isn't making that game... So, there will be a free BiS team in a couple of weeks that will start Fallout 3 and it will be the best RPG in the world.......

RRIIGHHT????????!?!

Now, seriously, Fallout: BOS is not gonna be an RPG (it's multi-player), so, BiS isn't gonna make Fallout: BOS. Then, BiS can start the development of Fallout 3 everytime.
It's not THAT bad...

Okay okay, yes, I would prefer that Interplay ordered to make Fallout 3 and not that shitty BOS....... But, let's see the positive side... :-)

Another fallout game, yes!

ah...at last there is really is another fallout game. I just hope it can bring new air without leaving the shine of famous fallout (rpg), like HOM and MM series.

And Xotor, remember our discussion about it? that if there is a seperate game/ another fallout game won't ruin the other...? i believe you remember it. The time come closer...hahahaha

OH MY GAWD !!

Please, no more of THAT discussion ! We all know what we think about it, I don't need to know more.
Anyway, I won't judge the game before I've seen it, and I can hardly believe it's gonna be Quake III : Arena fallout style.

And another thing :

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON May-11-00 AT 01:04PM (GMT)[p]Where can I find more info on F:BOS apart from that news message on AVault ?
And whats that E3 they're talking about ?

Giving in to stupidity.

They're only giving in to stupidity. I can only hope/wish that Black Isle will break off Interplay to form its own company while Interplay deteriorates into nothing.

And no Alicia, a non-RPG Fallout, separate or together, sucks. Period.

RE: And another thing :

E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo and it's the biggest world exposition for entertainment software and games.

As far as I know, it's not open for public, just for distributors and the press.

RE: Giving in to stupidity.

But there is a big problem if Black Isle break off Interplay...
Fallout is a trade mark of Interplay, not Black Isle, so, BiS aren't gonna be able to make no more REAL Fallout games... or I'm mistaking?

RE: Giving in to stupidity.

Then they would just do what Interplay did for Wasteland and make another series.

Wasteland->Fallout->?

Also, all that people seem to care about is that something has the name of Fallout on it, not the fact that the game isn't really going to BE Fallout anymore. And BIS isn't going to be making it (not really likely they would), so it's going to be further fucked over.

Like I said on the DAC Fo2 board:

So it will just have the Fallout name, and none of the TALENT, or SKILL that BIS has in making games. Which some of Interplay has lacked. A multiplayer tactics game with the name of Fallout.

Will it be Fallout in the least? Not really. Not at all.

As Xotor has dubbed it,

Fallout Tactics: POS.
--------------------------

It's becoming to be like Final Fantasy. The name drives the popularity, so does the droves of cattle that moo over the eye-candy. Not to mention that the game itself has gotten shittier with each installment. I know die-hard FFVII fans that played FFVIII for merely an hour, then took a blowtorch to it. And guess what? Almost none of those who played the original Final Fantasy still play any of the more recent games. FFVI was the last one I really enjoyed.

Next, onto Ultima.
A good game, really good. Unfortunately, greed and shitty planning screwed over numbers 8 and 9. Super Avatar Brothers and Virtue Raider. Kind of harsh, especially when it comes from the game's largest fan group, the UDIC. Sarenthalanos Dragon (myself) coined the one for UIX. Why did the game turn shitty? Because Richard Garriot sold out to EA and whomever. Kind of hard to say no when the royalties get you enough money to build a castle. But the end result, the game turned to crap, losing the original concepts and gameplay set forth since Ultima IV and continued on until Ultima VII, parts I and II.

Now, the relevant point when it comes to this, is not that Heroes of Might and Magic was successful, nor that there is going to be a tactics game using the Fallout world, but that Interplay and part of BIS are entertaining ideas of following all the kiddies in wanting good eye candy, combat-intensive, watered-storyline, etc.

So many complained about how Planescape: Torment was too wordy. Those are exactly the kids raised on Diablo that wouldn't have an idea of a real RPG if it bit them on the ass. They actually think Diablo and FF are RPG games. Like I said to the kids on the PS:T board:

"Too many words? Must be a challenge to break out a thesaurus and learn something, huh? I know it's different from what you REALLY crave, Diablo and the Diablo-clones Baldur's Gate and Nox, where the "Role-Playing" consisted of a level-system and "go there, kill that, retrieve the other thing". How about you go off and play Wasteland, Fallout, Fallout 2 and get a clue...oh, wait...you said that PS:T was too wordy, so I doubt you'd like other real CRPG games.

So, go back to your Diablow, your Baldur's Gate, your Nox. Leave REAL CRPGs to those who love them, and stop insisting on fvcking with something you really don't understand."

Problem is:

Trends
+ Children without a clue
---------------------------
Games that amount to shit

And now Interplay is going the same way as Origin.
Sad, completely sad.

I completely agree with that...

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON May-11-00 AT 06:02PM (GMT)[p]Of course they only want to put Fallout on everything. What do you think? That they're going to risk all his money in new things?? Nooo, it's not reliable to be innovative and creative.

Rosh, it is really going to be a "tactic game" (aka C&C/Warcraft clone)??

About Planescape...
Planescape too wordy?? A RPG TOO WORDY??! What the fuck?? 50% of a RPG game is based on texts, texts makes the plot, texts builds the history, more texts means more plot, more plot means more history, more history and plot increases the overall size and length of the game, more size and length means more decisions to take, more decisions to take means BETTER ROLE PLAYING GAME... I would like to see those kiddies reading all the +300 books that you can find in Daggerfall...

RE: I completely agree with that...

WOO! At least I am partially right!

"When he cries... seven thunders utter their voices."

RE: I completely agree with that...

Yup, and if they go with all the proposed ideas, about making Fallout 3 real-time in part or in whole, along with some of their other possible ideas they've been throwing around, then I will lose all respect for BIS/Interplay.

It will mean they will have followed the trend, abandoning the reason why Wasteland and Fallout were so successful.

Tried and true formulas work so well. Did Fallout have Final Fantasy VII-like graphics, multiplayer, a combat-required storyline? Did it have the latest in graphics and all the nice little graphical features like most games at that time? Not really. Why did it do so well then? Because it had the focus where it belonged - on the story and actual Role-Playing.
