Alright, since this board was just born and last discussions, I guess I'll start one on new weapons to give people stuff to post about and to kill time for me. I'm getting back into mod making now, and I think I'll make my first one just a basic weapons re-hash. I'd like some help thinking of some new weapons, or interesting mods on other weapons.

Heres what I have so far :

Grenade Launcher : I'd probably convert some useless weapon that has an obviously superior similar weapons related to it or just a regular useless weapon(14mm pistol, Light support weapon, needler, or whatever.) I'm not sure if it should be a huge new weapon that I'd have to make a new inventory graphic for(if I ever figure out how) and make it under the "Big Guns" skill, or if I should do what I did with my old mod - Take the needler pistol(which has a suitable hand held grenade launcher graphic already) and change it to fire grenades(make needler ammo into grenade clips, you can't use regular hand grenades as ammo) and classify it under the small guns skill. I'm torn between having a powerful explosive weapon in big guns that can hold more than 1 ammo(unlike the damn rocket launcher), or make a hand held one to classify as a small gun(since that category has NO explosive weapons currently) and have it do fairly weak amount of damage. The cool part about using the needler as the weapon to modify into a grenade launcher is that it has 2 types of ammo, which means 2 types of grenades. I'm a thinkin' that an EMP grenade might be cool(but im pretty sure that it would still *appear* as a regular grenade with a fireball explosion, but I could try to make up something to explain that in the weapon's info you look at in the examine screen)


EMP rifle : I think that we need more EMP damage stuff. Something that does monster damage to robots, but very little to organic things(like 1-5 damage for the impact of the projectile). Would it be better to have it like a normal gun with no projectile animation, or like a laser/plasma/rocket launcher/alien blaster that you can see something being shot out of it? But remember that if it shoots something visible out, burst mode is impossible to incorporate(I think.) I'd also like to know what sort of ammo it should use(I'm thinking small batteries) or if it should have its own unique ammo(but remember that there are limited types of ammo to change, and if you think something else is more worthy of its own ammo, then..)


Super-Weapon : Should a hidden super weapon exist? Something that does HUUUUGE damage, only takes like 1 AP, and takes no/a plentiful type of ammo. Should it be a gun or meelee? Heh, that reminds me when I made the sharpened pole have a range of 100 and a damage of 200, you just saw your guy stab the air and someone all the way across the screen just falls down and slides a couple hundred feet and dies, that idea might be useful as a telepathic/magic/voodoo(voodoo tandi-doll) weapon or something. It would also be funny to tell Balthas(sp?) that you think Johnny died because you found his super-mega-flaming-death rifle-of-doom down in the town well. I can't decide what the weapon should be, let alone if it should EXIST.


Wrench : I wonder if it would be useful to give the wrench/crowbar another purpose, like doing massive damage to electrical stuff cuz you "dismantled it" during combat. I can't remember if I could still keep the normal damage in there for an ammo-less weapon if I make it do EMP damage, so the wrench would be more realistic to doing no damage instead of the crowbar. Stupid idea or worthwhile?

Weapon Genocide : Any weapon types that should be trashed? Like adding realism by taking away most energy weapons(except like a prototype for a laser rifle or something, since I can't delete that category) and replacing them with convicible weapons? I'm not too fond of it, but I'd like to hear ideas of replacing worthless crap with something less worthless. There are 2 things I am DEFINITELY trashing, the 14mm and Needler. They suck, and they are wasting valuable ammo types which could be converted into grenade rounds or AP Shotgun ammo.

Original Weapon Mods : Examples being 3-shot burst for Desert Eagle(Maybe ditch or tone down the capacity increase on the upgraded Desert Eagle and make it the only desert eagle with 3 shot burst option? Or maybe that wouldn't be so good since by the time you can find someone to upgrade you would have found MUCH better weapons, but I guess that could be fixed by making the upgraded one have more damage and range), being able to fire both barrels of the shotgun(if I do this should I make it take an extra AP? Its only one more bullet and you would already be penalized by losing the option to aim and unloading your entire gun, so I don't think I would charge an extra AP for burst), or just maybe increase the amount of bullets bursted/capacity/range/ or damage of your favorite weapon. Maybe making the upgraded assault rifle's burst to 50 bullets and raising the AP requirement to 7 or 8 would make that weapon worth using, since I've never been able to do good damage with that thing.


Or just reply with anything else that would be cool to use and possible to make. And I don't mind any suggestions on armor or drug modifications either, those are cool too. There IS gonna be a secret armor in the game(replaces the Bridgekeepers robes) and its gonna be cool. :-)

Hey, if you're modifying the current F2 items, why not give us a use for the radscorpion limbs? They'd make an excellent short range weapon...
 
I like the idea of dumping both barrels of the shotgun with one trigger pull..... increasing the Eagle to a 3-rnd burst (with 20-rnd capacity) is another good idea! and if you're looking for another gun that could easily be modified, why not the Mauser? it's not good for much, so turn it into something that rocks!
 
the mouser totaly forgot about that one...good thinking dude....that will be my next gun to work on :)

Some of them could use different types of weapon ( like bozar or your modified pipe rifle or Death Launcher !!)
 
Is it Posible to make exploding shotgun ammo or make a throwing knife gun (lets face it throwing knives suck use up to much ap and are to weak)

Speaking of weapons.
How about increasing Vindicator burst to 50 or an entire magasine, while giving it a _huge_ spread. I mean, the weapon is SUPPOSED to be total overkill, ised on tanks, helicopters and muchas power armors. This way, it would be good to wipe out large mobs or DEVASTATE things in short range. I've had 700+ damages point blank from a vindicator on weak critters and 600+ on bridge keeper, IMO Vindicator burst should spell DEATH TO FRANK HORRIGAN in one shot ;-]. Plus the weapon is RARE! much rarer than Bozar. Alternatively, the AP may be lowered per burst: the thing gotta have a VILE firing rate ;-]
Another thing, prolly upgrade the M60 burst and lower damage ;-] tratatatatata! Take the unfinished FN-Fal (the one that dishes out 20 bullets), upgrade magasine to 30 bullets and rename the thing Kalashnikov ;-]
Mauser... Make it into a good pistol perhaps? Let it use 9 mm ball as well as 9 mm ammo.
Make Sniper Rifle vile: give it BIG range, so that you would not be sure whether it is better than Gauss.
Actually my philosophy is that ONE bullet can kill. If the dork in front of you is wearing no combat armor or higher, an eye shot from a pipe rifle should send him to meet his ancestors and so a head shot perhaps , no matter how many HPs he has.
 
Do you know what FO2 is?

Cause from what you've said here, it sounds like you don't know how it's put together.

1. You *CANNOT* increase the burst area unless you are messing with scripts (not many hackers have ventured into this area and succeeded).

2. There are no tanks in FO2

3. Death to Horrigan in one shot would ruin the game!

4. What do you mean "upgrade the burst"?

5. The only unfinished weapon is the shiv. And who or what is a Kalashnikov?

6. Do you know what the word 'vile' means?

7. You need to change your philosophy!

Heres a couple ideas I was thinking of.....
1)Convert M60 to a Barret Light .50 cal sniper
rifle.Give it long range and knock back(like what the super sledge does)with a good amount of damage.
2)In the game the silent death perk shows a picture of a dude using a gurkur knife.One of
those would be cool too.
3)Wouldnt it be fun if one of the bazooka rounds(ie.the ap shell)
was converted to napalm(molitov cocktails maybe)
giving it range and fire damage.

Any weapon which does a considerable amount of damage does knockback. I even manage to do knockback with a knife.

I think that there is a knife like that which they took out of the game. But it would be easy to put it back in again.

Too easy. Next! (j/k) It id very easy to do all this though. It'll probably take me about 5 minutes to do it.

I've never done any knockback in the game with anything BUT a meelee weapon, explosive weapon, or unarmed attack.

I have no idea what a gurker knife is, but the knife they took out is knife.frm, so you can either extract it any view it in frm2bmp or just set that to the normal knife's inventory picture in fime and view it in the game. It is a pretty damn sweet knife.

Thats what I thought about my EMP grenades, but I realized soon after I posted the message that the ammo only signifies the AC/DR damage modification, and the weapons can only have one type of damage and firing frame. I also realized that the regular pistol does not have a burst animation, so the 3-shot burst on the expanded desert eagle isn't gonna happen.

I also gots me a question for Grendelin and the mod makers - I only heard Grendelin say something about black-robe armor. I've never tried that mod, but is it an actual different set of character animation that was left out of the game, or some sort of pallette change? If it IS a pallette change, how did he do it? I'd like my power-armor a rosy pink tint....
(j/k - although it would be cool to make a jet black/somewhat dark power armor.)

yo...wazup dude...i see your question and will try to answer it the best i can...here we go!

remember the horrigen armor stuff..well you can make any armor make you look like anything in the game (hence my fire gecko armor) now one thing that you can make yourself look like is black robe armor....now the only reason that works is because there already is animation for the purple robes...there is also a brown robe....same goes for it...but like when i wanted to make a super mutant serum to inject to become a super mutatnt...it would not work cause there are no animations for that....i just about tested every value in the game...i have a complete list of what # make you look like what ....problem lies with the animations....i have never actualy tried to make new or change original armor looks in the game.can do that only for the inven! make sense..if not e-mail me at usp09@hotmail.com
