Don't know what this is about? Read first:
http://nma-fallout.com/threads/a-community-effort.205614/

For the NMA-PnP we need a lot of people. Well, we are a lot of people. That's good. But we also need some specialised people.
If you're in for helping the NMA PnP Project, please post now your experience and what you'd like to do.
Special skills and experiences we need in particular are:
Writing ([fan] fiction, dialogue, concise descriptions [so scientific writing helps, too])
Pen&Paper experience, especially as a GM and in homebrewing
Art (general drawing, character design, map and architectural design, 3D models)

Please post in this thread a summary of your experiences and skills and what you'd like to do. I'll then try to form work groups to work on different things to get this on the road as efficiently as possible, and remain as close to your preferences and skills as possible. I can already tell you that the writing teams won't get too much work in the beginning, as we need to get the crunch down before we get to the fluff, but you knew that already.

Do you?

/edit: In case you are wondering: Yes, I'm heavily moderating these threads. I have to sift through them to collect all the information in the end, so please don't get off-topic here and only post when you read everything carefully.

Hmm, I'm not sure how I'm gonna fit into those criteria. My very brief experience with a PnP RPG happened back when I was in middle school (like, ~10 years ago). I didn't think of ruleset or anything, I just designed the setting by drawing a map (Tolkien style), and place a background upon the world (like, city A is a city of trade, city B is a stairway to heaven ). Heck, I didn't even know it was called 'Pen&Paper'!

However, I'm currently studying Chemistry in Uni, at my 4th year nonetheless. So, maybe I can help with a lil' bit of writing concise description, so if you think that with what little experience I have I can do it, direct me where I can to help with those. But my recruitment should be of lower priority, since irl I'm nearing the time period where I'm beginning my research to write my essay for graduation, so.... well, just put me into low priority consideration list

I'd love to help in any way I can. However, I have basically no skills whatsoever, so that means less than it otherwise might.

Sign me in for this.

My skills and other stuff:
  • I was a DM for D&D (not AD&D) for many years (more than 10), I also looked into other P&P games like Star Wars D20 (which is basically D&D in Star Wars universe so that doesn't count much) and World Of Darkness.
  • I can do a little bit of writing but the older I get the less good my writing is and I haven't really written anything for 15-20 years or something like that so I doubt I can do any good work there, just putting it here for the sake of completion.
  • I love creating stuff like rules and games (although I mostly worked on creating card games, but my knowledge of PnP is useful for creating rules for tabletop RPGs).
  • I have basic Photoshop skills.
  • Been Playing Fallout since the first game was released (I don't know if this counts for anything though).
  • I like to research and look up stuff online, it usually takes a while but I don't mind spending some time doing it (don't know if it is of any usefulness).
  • I have a lot of free time (although if I get tired or bored of something I need some time out of it just to rest, mental issues I can't really control are to blame, sorry about that :-().
  • Besides all I said before, I also don't mind at all doing small, easy things that are not that important either, so if there is something like that and others don't have time or don't want to do it send them my way :P.
  • I live in Australia so my timezones might be weird or hard to comply with others from around the globe.
I guess that is all I can think for the moment, but I just woke up and my brain is slow and forgetful when I just wake up :V.

Don't have any explicit skills however I do have experience with P&P games (mostly second hand experience) and excessive amounts of free-time in order to pour over and learn the intricacies of P&P systems, which I assume we'll either be using or "taking inspiration" from.
Also, I could probably write, but I'm sure that'll be a popular position so I'll abstain from that, unless it's required of me.

I'm pretty good at ideas and creating possible worlds and shit. Not too much of a great writer (I can write when I have the muse) but I can do it if I have to.

Well, I'm not particularly great at the technical stuff of the PnP world, but I'm not bad at writing. Unsurpisingly I'm also very well read into Fallout lore and I've read the Fallout Bible more times than I care to count. I don't particularly mind what area of writing I might cover, but I'd like to get involved.

I used to have some fan-fiction written here and there (nothing published on NMA however), my knowledge of the lore, though a bit rusty, is pretty good, I used to be a DnD DM in high school (not the best one though).
I guess that writing the Aryan LP was the last Fallout related thing I actually did.

Not much to offer, really, but I guess I could help out with writing lore and quest/NPC design. I wasn't bad at that one.

I would be happy to assist with this. (Time permitting)

Skills:
Writer- I have written volumes of text for my own personal projects, most of which are for an adult audience.

I'm a modder, and a fledgling game developer. While I am still currently assisting the developers for the Dawn of the Tiberian age with some tile sets and a custom campaign, and my Ern series I would happily assume another project as long as it does not interfere with my current workload. (I might also end up assisting Ross Scott [Ross's Game dungeon] with his project, which is currently in limbo)

I have written stories/campaigns for various rpg styled pnp's before, putting emphasis on player choice rather than linear paths. (I find this is the most work intensive but well worth the effort.)
I designed my very own stand alone pnp based off of the renraku arcology, in a setting far more dark and dire than my players were expecting.

I enjoy incorporating dark human thoughts and tendencies into my plots often forcing players to make rather difficult choices in game while at the same time weaving the intricate subplots into a great whole.
If given enough time I could easily write an entire setting and main plot/story that would rival even the most experienced. However bear in mind the themes I incorporate are not for children nor should they be read by the lesser minded as I use subtly a lot to convey hidden meanings.

I also know how to properly balance and "rig" a game to be played in line with specific needs.

I have done artwork before in the form of drawing, I created my own monsters for my own pnp with a complete monster catalog with pictures. (Although I'm not a fan of my own artwork but others seem to enjoy it)

Let me know what you need.

Applicable skills

  • I actually work in business intelligence (posh words for: I use Excel and fuck about with shit tons of data all day) and so have good grasp of mathematics 'systems'
  • I've have 10+ years experience in 'homebrew' gaming (I posted the tabletop rules I'd come up with for Fallout in the other thread if you want to review them!)
  • I've actually used the fallout PNP and altered it to run a successful 'vietnam war' RPG
  • 10+ years experience with wargaming and table RPG
  • I adore the fallout lore & setting.
Would be interested in this project as it hits my interests hard!

  • Experienced worldbuilder, absolutely adores writing lore and setting information.
  • Has previous experience playing tabletop RPGs, namely D&D 5E.
  • Able to help condense the ruleset into something that makes more sense than the traditional SPECIAL system from the games.
  • Absolutely loves the Fallout lore and setting.

  • GM of many systems
    • GURPS, 3rd, 4th
    • Shadowrun 2nd, 3rd
    • Cyberpunk 2020, cybergen, and a mostly rewritten Cyberpunk
    • Stormbringer
    • Homebrew sci-fi
  • Worldbuilder, started a recent thread under role-playing with some "After the End" farming examples I wrote up for the meticulous crowd at the official GURPS forums (where their writers hang out).
  • Some fallout mapping experience 1,2 and tactics. Played with Shadowrun mapping as well.
  • Game theory and game mechanics are a field of interest to me, I know that Paper, Rock, Scissors is not the best theory for game mechanics.
  • I consider myself a good pencil and paper mapper.
  • I have some experience and success with unusual gaming. e.g. Ran a campaign with the goal of killing all the players, all the players involved still rave about it (in a good way).

  • I was a DM for a couple 4th edition D&D campaigns and one for my own homebrewed ruleset in a post-apocalyptic setting. So go ahead and mark me down for world-building and rule design.
  • I have bits of writing experience here and there. Mostly from my University days. A few of the things I wrote got published in the campus publication. Nothing major and I'm probably dogshit.
  • I'm also a team-player. I know that isn't one of the skills you listed. But, with projects like this, it is an especially valuable trait. I'm not an egomaniac and I'm not married to my ideas. You've got to grease those wheels with the sweet lubricant of compromise, baby.
The catch is that I don't have a lot of free time. I'm willing to do what I can though. It's been years since I indulged myself in some of this truly heinous nerd-type shit and it'd be nice to get into that head space once again.

EDIT: I just realized that everyone else's posts were back in May and this ship has probably sailed lol.

Nah, I'm gonna get this started now. Sorry, has been seriously delayed due to myself also not having much free time.

Hi,
I'd like to contribute as well. And I should officially apply... forgot to do that... :-P
  • I am playing P&P for about 20 years now, played and/or DM'd a lot of systems, from WOD games (Vampire, Abberant, Changeling, Exalted, etc.) to AD&D and D&D, The Dark Eye (a German game), Fate/Fudge, Mechwarrior, Khult/Unknown Armies/never Cthulu for some reason, Cyberpunk of course, Shadowrun and a lot of others I don't remember. And recently I started Degenesis with some guys. Yay! :D
  • I am quite experienced in graphic editing, from Photoshop to Illustrator, and could learn InDesign if need be... can't be too difficult. And I think I am quite ok in typesetting, which will be a huge part of the final process of making an actual book (or PDF)
  • I write... I don't know how good it is, but I can write ... :-P
  • I believe I have good insight in game mechanics and what certain mechanics in actual gameplay feel like; which mechanics are practical and which have proven to be crap.
  • And last but not least, I have already done my own Fallout Pen and Paper game. :deal: (Horrid's Fallout for Cyberpunk 2020)
