No-CD crack

Alright people. Feel free to punch me in the groin if this is in the wrong place, or if I'm posting something already discussed elsewhere. I really did do a search for "no CD crack" and didn't find a single topic that spoke of stuff like that. So don't blame me.

I need a No-CD crack for Fallout 2. Now you might go "omgz..that's so illegal!" and stuff, but fact is I have a perfectly legal copy of the game (I actually have three now that I bought the Collection), and I just want to remove that annoying good-for-nothing CD-check on startup.

I have found it for my version of the game (V 1.2e) on MegaGames, but everytime I try to download I get that nice Page Not Found error.

So, can anyone be of assistance here?
 
Why don't you just full install the game? That's one of the options it gives you when you first install it. It's called "HUMONGOUS INSTALL" or something like that. It does not require the cd to be in at all when you play the game, or start up the program or anything.
 
Of course I have the humongous install. but it still requires the CD when I want to play.

"Fallout 2 requires the CD to play" or something like that.

I believe that it was enough to do a humongous install to make the US version work w/o CD, but this may not be true for the European version.
 
Might be so. Oh, and humongous was enough for Fo1 too. Even here in Europe. But Fo2 still has that check. :)
 
I've never had any trouble with CD-checks because I keep the original Fallout.exe file and never really uninstall the game - just delete data files and edit the config. Perhaps the old *.exe is the key here - it's not from the European version for sure, but rather from a US one (or maybe it was even cracked? Can't remembrer...)
