Well, i'm about to return from holiday, and the day I get back I plan on downloading OWB off of the PS Store. I haven't read too far into, I only know vague details. These details involve: Roboscorpions, some Ulysses, and SCIENCE! So, for preparation for playing it, can anyone offer any expectations for me, tips/hints, and what I should look out for?

Take a pulse gun with you, and maybe the trail carbine.
And take a big load of stimpaks with you.

    Couple hints:

If you are a Guns user, be sure to stock up on ammo, specifically AP. While it's possible to find certain types of Guns ammo in OWB (mostly .357 and .44), there's not a huge variety and the one merchant you encounter takes forever and a day to restock.

Stocking up on Mojave plants before going to Big MT will give you a good starting advantage. Similarly, bringing coffee cups, plates, clipboards, toasters and hotplates will net you some nice crafting materials.

Resist the urge to sell normal Saturnite fists; you can upgrade them and receive a lot more caps.

Slight spoiler, but one quest requires a Science skill of 75 to complete and is linked to the main quest.

I hope you don't sell your Stealth Boys, bring them all.

As guys said earlier, stock up heavily on ammo and stims.

Get ready for some hardcore CAPS RAGE.

    Bring SCIENCE!

bring a ton of ammo of the weapon your best with and a ton of stims

stims are hard to find in Big MT so a good survival skill is recommended (mine was 100)

look hard because most unique stuff is lying around

    prepare for SCIENCE!

Difficult to find, but crazy easy to craft. After a normal OWB play through, I usually have about 300 empty syringes thanks to Muggy.

Bring a LOT of weapon repair kits if you can get your hands on them.

Look up where to find the LAER or Elijah's Advanced LAER, it destroys everything but breaks excessively fast, hence the repair kits.

I dont get the big deal with stims, you get TONS of components to craft them. Just grind up all plants into salient green and make half xander root and the other half broc flower. Then process some coffee mugs to get empty syringes. Real easy.

I'd advice against picking up Elijah's LAER. It's big thing is an advanced RoF, but with a 1/3rd lower health. The basic LAER is better.

Play with explosives, bring Thump-Thump and lots of 40mm grenades.

    Lots of fun guaranteed.

I agree, there's really no noticeable damage difference between the LAER and Elijah's Advanced LAER, they both destroy anything you point it at, might as well go with the one that lasts longer.

Prepare for a massive load of dungeons full of random loot and boring combat... Not saying the DLC doesn't have its good sides though.

Cool boring combat. But my survival is only 45, but aren't Stims made from science not survival? I have plenty of Stims thanks to dead money sierra madre vending machine in the abandoned BoS bunker. I use energy weapons as my primary provider of death, I was thinking the SCIENCE! would help me with that?

Nope...stims require 70 Science. As for Energy Weapons, it's probably the best option in OWB since ammo is abundant and the Sonic Emitter is one of the best ways to dispatch roboscorpions, which imo, are the toughest enemies.

Not as easy as simply picking them up from Sierra Madre vending machine.

The nice thing about Elijah's LAER is that when it's modded with a prismatic lens, it still has one beam. (thus is better against enemies with higher DT)

I meant stimpacks require science, not survival. But, it's good to know that it won't be hard to find energy weapons ammo, unlike the previous two DLCs.

Yeah the combat bored me at first; then again I was never impressed with F3's combat, and did not buy NV for the reason that many people seemed to have bought either game for (loot + blowing things up + massive explosions). It was the writing that got me hooked, and honestly I'd say it's a lot more interesting and compelling than DM (which I also love). When I completed OWB, there was a warm, tingly sensation inside of me that I got when I finished Fallout 2 - like a cross between satisfaction and wanting more.

Of course finding the cool weapons made the combat more tolerable. Some of the levels are also fun to play - they're nothing new, but I enjoyed them.

Make sure you take some good armour, maybe two sets of armour and have enough money to fix it. I took one set which broke and then after a few times I couldn't afford to fix it. The whole DLC was a lot harder with only my soft pink flesh to protect me...
