Heres a mod I have an idea for.

STORY:
The year is 1926, and you are the most egotistical movie star ever. You play a police chief in Reno in your latest film. You and your squad are chasing a suspected murderer down the street when a strange light appears under the Reno sign. It gets brighter and brighter until it takes the shape of a strange doorway. The murderer dissappears into it. The director and film crew run in fear, but you get closer to examine it. As you approach, it sucks you in and you tumble through space and time.

BASICALLY:
The world is black and white, you goes through time to 2272, and the new world is color but your character is still in black and white. some friendly travelers take you to the nearest town(which is Las Vegas), and your quest begins. Join a crime family, star in a movie directed by the son of a Corsica brother(co-staring the suspected murderer), or just steal everyones money and blow it at the slot machine.

Heres some pictures I made to help you visualize what it will look like.

Any questions? comments? criticism?

Very cool, could be a lot of fun. I love the idea. Are you going to be working on it on your own, or are you planing on finding some eager Fallout lovers to join you?

P.S I reconmend you save your images as a format other than bmp (E.G gif or jpg) as these will take up less space/bandwidth, and you will be able to incoparate them into posts with the

Mainly myself. Theres not really anything else to do but a whole lot of scripting and a bit of map building. I could use some help with making new critters, weapons, sounds and whatnot.

PS: thanks for the advice, but the program I use to make Jpegs from bitmaps was making the quality of the screenshots very low. If anyone knows of a better program than Jan's Formatti 9 then please let me know.

I use adobe photoshop 7... paint shop pro 9 is the latest I think but its $900 or something so you should just dload it, I mean *cough* purchase it.

Fantastic! Great idea, hope it turns out well!

I feel that the time traveling bit is a bit dorky(and it doesnt really fit the fallout universe) Does anyone know another way I could jump ahead 350+ years?

There was a random encounter in FO2 which had time travel, you went through a gate back into vault 13 and broke the water chip... time travel does kinda fit with the 50s theme.

There could be other ways to make the character travel... or towards teh end of the game you could discover something about the causes of the time travel.... I'm sure there will be other ideas tho.

haha... give the elvis ufo a chance to prove its worth then. No one really knew the true power of elvis...

there is something someone could do for me. Find the las vegas sign in an isometric view(like from a helecopter or something, all I can find is pics from the ground) I could put it in FRM format if you dont feel like it.

I like the idea of the world in black and white, I'd like to play a film noir game in black & white, but why would the actor still be in black & white when they go through time? People from the 1920's weren't in b&w just the films they made, it'd be different if you were going for a The Purple Rose of Cairo style story where the character came alive from an old movie reel. I mean Dorothy didn't stay in b&w when she went to Oz now did she.

You could lose the time travel bit, either set it in FO2's New Reno and have the actor be put out of work when the Chosen one shut's down the porn studio so they have to find other work, sort of a sequel to the events in New Reno. Or you could set the whole thing in 1926 have the actor be famous for playing a movie cop, one day while travelling from L A to Las Vegas they get a flat in a small town in Nevada, the town is a mini Las Vegas with several casinos and crime families. The local police chief has just been murdered and crime is spiraling out of control. The local townsfolk and criminals mistake the actor for the character they play, and believe them to actually be a legendary cop come to investigate the police chief's murder. With the townsfolk relying on them to clean up the town, and the mobsters either out to get or murder the actor, they have to put on the performance of their life and become the character they've been playing.

Could a model of the sign work?? I could texture it and put up some lights and it would be good to go. Can remodel it to suit your needs.

(this is just a draft)

I got the idea for a B&W actor and a color world from that movie from the 80's where the guy goes back in time and hes in color but the world is in black and white(and it is much easier to make one character FRM black and white than the whole world around him)

That model is awesome. With some work it will be much better than a picture.

If you need another background color or something to ease the extraction of the picture..

didnt know what kind of light settings you wanted so I left it neutral

The welcome letters glow, the light bulbs on the edge glow, and the red star at the top glows. I like the dirt detail on the bottom.

You could probably make some of the lights broken, like the gizmo sign did

Here's an idea for time travel. The actor gets killed in an accident during the making of the movie and his body is frozen. It is than transported all around the US until it finally ends up in the Sierra Army Depot where it gets brought back to life when the Chosen One defrosts Private Dobbs. (I hope I'm getting all this right). You could say that him being black and white is the result of the defreezing. Dobbs melted but our actor just turned black and white. What do you think?
