How far did you get with development?
I also have some old projects I refuse to let them die. )
I know you're curious but I'm not saying anything else about the topic yet - it's enough I broke hearts of Fallout fans once before.
For now, I'll point you to an old interview of mine from June 2014. -> https://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=29599
I'm here to show my support for @Hardboiled Wanderer 's project and to dispel any rumors regarding the status of my project
How's this coming along? I'm itching to see your take on the original F3
9 months nothing, a year and a half later after all sorts of happenings this is still going!
You're truly hardboiled.
Just a quick report on VanBuren's recent progress:
Much of the work done since January is "under the hood" kind of work - engine related tools, rendering, optimization and a few content-creation systems. There's nothing really "demonstrative" to show you at this point, hence the lack of new updates. There sure will be some in a near future though, so stay tuned
Tidy! Really cool project you got there, can't wait to put my hands on it and actually play the thing. Cheers, mate!
Doesn't the rpgcodex have a Fallout Van Buren unity3D thread. Been trying to find it and I can't.
I apologize for not posting to the forum for so long. Here's a little sneak-peek of what I've been cooking for the last 4-5 weeks. It's a very early work, it's rough, unpolished and it lacks details (those will be added during finalization). Feel free to take a guess on which location could it be
Nope, but you're not far
Looks like it must be Fort Abandon to me
Aaand we have a winner
Not to immediately get into criticism here since, y'know, the work you're doing is fucking incredible on multiple levels, but
Why is there a paved road leading into it? I was always under the impression that Fort Abandon was a post-War structure.
It's not. I've managed to obtain the original design document of Fort Abandon from one of the developers, the Fort was built upon pre-war structure (old warehouse)
Oh, cool! I've only ever found that one that's almost entirely in Polish. I assume this means you've gotten access to all the other locations that are missing design documents?
The Polish document actually contains valid info, even though often in form of assumptions. The original document is much older, from much earlier development stages. I only acquired location and NPC documents for FA, nothing else. Yet
Any chance you can share the FA document? I'm currently designing and prepping to run Van Buren as a tabletop RPG online for some friends, and it would make my life easier to not have to create the whole location from scratch.
Also, your design work in unity for a Van Buren remake looks great so far.
As much as I would like to, I've been specifically asked not to share it with public, for, as such, this material is still a property of Interplay and none of us wants to get into trouble. Yes, it is unlikely that IPLY would care, but - I still gave my word on that.
You can PM me if you have any specific questions about FA, I might be able to answer them.
