I've noticed a lot more food and chems have been added since FO2.

First, does anyone know of a list of all the effect on stas of the different drugs, chance of addiction and so on. I avoided using chems in FO2 so I don't know all their benefits. I'm particularly interested in knowing about the gum (forgot name), psycho, buffout, mentats.

Second, there are all these foods. Are any of them useful to eat? I know most were benign in FO and FO2 but oddly my main character started out with something in tactics so I thought they may have some effect. Likewise any new booze, beer or Nuka-cola effects (green, cherry, classic). Lastly, I came across some cookies in Preoria. Do these give a boost of APs like the one cookie in FO2 did?

haven't written down the effects of any but I know kinda what they all do.

food - like stims, all food gives you some small amount of hp back. Cookies act just like regular food no extra action points. Avoid stinky meat platter though this lowers your EN.

Nuka cola - no effect (at least not that I've seen)

Booze - lowers PE by 1, use on people you are going to steal from.

Warning if you take too many drugs you can become overdosed and unconsious, also not gaining the effects of the drugs.

Voodo -Raises AG and LK only lasts about 30 seconds though, and the side effects are ugly being minuses to the same which last for a very long time. never worth using imho

Afterburner Gum - basicly the Jet of FO2 without the nasty always addicted problem. Raises Action Points by 2, PE by 1, ST by 1, and max hp by 1. Very nice stuff, lasts quite awhile, seems to be the most expensive of the chems with the possible exception of Psycho. You can take two of these.

Psycho - my favorite 50% damage resistance to normal weapons (combines with armor too so you can get really high damage resistance and slough off anything a super mutant could throw at you) also grants 2 AG but lowers IN by 3. - never take more than one, don't take with other drugs.

Mentats - These have become far more usefull in FOT, raises PE & IN by 2 and CH by 1, you can safely take 2 of these.

Buffout - a good way to overcome a low ST cha, or for being able to use a realy heavy big gun. Take for 2 ST, 3 EN, 2 AG. you can take 2 of these safely

As A side note I haven't seen any difference in what stats do once they go over 12, and some drugs won't bring stats above 12

Everything except for Voodo seems to last a reasonable ammount of time if you are in a mission, however they have downs that tend to last weeks or months that generally give you bad effects equal to the good ones, although I haven't scrupulously written them all down as I just wander around in the mission square for awhile or go hunting untill they wear off.

how long will it take for effects from stinky meat to wear off? there's a tribal medicine that i took cuz i ran out of medical supplies...
it lowers PE by one, and lasts at least two missions...
darnit!

RE: nuka cola

Nuka Cola, damn nuka cola! I don't know the positive sides of nuka cola, i've looked to no avail, but I have gotten two characters addicted to nuka cola, once addicted it lowers a crap load of stats and then you have to keep drinking the stuff. The negative effects don't wear off in the recrutment pool either.
BAh!:-(

RE: nuka cola

oh forgot info on a couple more chems.

Trauma Packs heal a butload of hp and they also raise EN by 1, they seem to effect some sort of regeneration too as my character kept gaining hp for some time durring a mission.

Mutagen raises ST & EN by 4 but lowers IN & CH by 4.

and of course healing powder which heals a very small amount of hp and lowers PE by 1.

if you are negatively affected by side effects (not addiction) just wander around on a mission circle for awhile, and check on your stat occassionaly. everything will go away eventually, but some of them can take up to a month (game time) I think. I just usually go looking for random encounters untill it wears off and get xp and loot instead :)

as one more plus I've never actually gotten addicted to any of the good chems, unlike FO2...
