Seeking PS:Torment Advice

UniversalWolf

eaten by a grue.
I now have Torment sitting on my shelf. I don't have time to play it right now, but I'm sure I'll start some time in the next few weeks.

I'm wondering if you veteran Torment players can recommend any unofficial patches or mods along the lines of the Restoration Projects for Fallout. I know people always say you should play it through once vanilla, but frankly if there's a patch that fixes bugs and adds content that was intended to be in there but didn't make it, I'd rather make the game complete before I start.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Thanks guys! I'll check those out.

I had forgotten to ask about a high-resolution patch in my original post, but after I started the game up once for a few minutes last week, I could see I would want that too. I figured there probably was such a patch after all these years.

So, I've got all the goodies installed and I'm running PST at 1920x1200 and it looks very good. I haven't gone much beyond the Mortuary yet, but I like it so far. It's different enough from standard AD&D to be interesting.

Anyway, thanks for the help, guys.

So, i'm playing it with the Fixpack, Unfinished Business, Ghostdog's UI and High Resolution mod and it is Awesome,

...but i have encountered a problem i have never seen before:

Dak'kon won't talk to me, and because of this i can't recruit him back when i return from the Dream Builder.

Anyone knows why this happens? Could i have pissed him off or something? Is it my alignment? (Chaotic evil)

I was playing last month, and I just got out of the mortuary. I did not figure out many things to do yet, and I stoped playing :/ Maybe I should start to play again. I'll begin this weekend

@Ketchup, IIRC in the beginning you should do quests for the guys who like death. That'll get you on your way to see the guy who you're supposed to go see.

@UW: So, did you finish the game already?

Actually no. I got distracted by other things and didn't go very far, but I've been thinking about starting my game up again recently, so I'm sure I will sooner or later. Probably sooner. I hit a bug with the magic casting graphics that I think will be solved by turning off hardware acceleration, and that's what derailed me. I liked the fairly short amount I played, though.

So I've begun PST in earnest. I did a full reformat/reinstall of Windows a few weeks ago, and noticed there were many updates to the fan-made content, so I reinstalled PST. This was a good thing for a variety of reasons. First, I'm using a smaller screen resolution this time around (1920x1200 looked really good, but it's just too far away from the characters for one of these BG-type games). Also, the graphics bugs I was having before have vanished. I don't know whether that's because of the Windows reinstall or the new NVIDIA drivers I'm using, or the new fan-made patches, but I have had zero problems with the graphics this time around. The game plays smooth as silk. I think I've had one crash total, when I tried to quicksave. Not a big deal at all. The save worked just fine upon reload.

My Nameless One has super-high INT, excellent DEX and WIS, and average everything else. I recently converted him to a wizard. I just got to the Chaosmen lair northeast of the Burning Man.

Just an update.

No spoilers here, please!

Later on i figured this can randomly happen to any follower, and it gets fixed if you teleport to a different area.

Has anyone else encountered this bug?

Are you using the tweaks pack? I recommend it since it has the banter accelerator which is a fix but it's pretty useful to see all banters the game contains, here it's a detailed descriptio of what the tweaks pack does http://readme.spellholdstudios.net/QPSTTweaks_Readme.html

i see, are you using the latest 4.10 versions of the fixpack, unfinished business and tweaks pack? If so, idk what could be wrong, i'd recommend to wait the next package and report the problem at spellhold studios (u dont need to register to post there). ;)

Mr. Felipefpl…my gratitude for sending me to Baldur's Gate heaven, otherwise known as *Spellhold Studios*… :P

Pixote, i wonder you havent been there for some time, downloaded any of the packs for baldur's gate there?

I like the idea of playing Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 + SC as one big game (Baldur's Gate Trilogy-WeiDU (1.09))…should be fun. That site *Spellhold Studios* looks very polished. The Baldur's Gate series is still one of my favorite game series of all time. :)

i see, well, i dont know if play the trilogy would be nice, i know there is a pack to throne of bhaal with fixes beyond the ones from bioware, btw, if the weidu version is 1.09 is WAY outdated, in this site you may find stuff about baldur's and other games as well http://www.gibberlings3.net/ ;)
