SquareEnix takeover bid of Eidos and new MMO in the works

UncannyGarlic

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
After Square Enix launching takeover bid for Eidos, Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada admits that they are planning for Final Fantasy XI's something and the Next Game!

What kind of the next MMO would that be? Will it consider to add any element of Tomb Raider into the project? Or mix new Final Fantasy series, Dragon Quest series, Cross Gate series, Commandos series and Thief? The keyword of the game was marked on the label "flagship" by Square Enix. We wish it will become a new project with a devastating and bring us some unique systems. Hope you love the game.

Interesting move and I hope it'll mean an eventual return to the Thief series for Eidos, as foolish as that hope may be.

Holy shit, a new MMO, finally!!111

Seriously... I start to hate MMOs.

Freedom Fighters: 2 (please).

Definitely, they should of gave up on that abortion of a game Kane & Lynch and just made that.

MMO's are really starting to ruin PC gaming... there is such a glut of them now.

MMOs aren't forever. The more of them there are, the worse they get. It's just that people as a mass, and as a consumer, are slow, and it will take a while for them to realize it's crap.

The comic part about MMO's is the developer's inability to learn. I don't think current generation developers ever check on other titles and their feedback.

In 3 or 5 years at most we will probably see another ground breaking MMO from Blizzard. Only this time they will be armed with the answers of MMO problems discovered by WoW and WaR.

We will be seeing heavy use of phasing so that after you clean up a quest chain you will never see the mobs/boss respawn again. We will also be seeing the map change as we move trough the story.

We will see a heavier and more efficient use of battles and instances/arenas all along the level up process.

We will be taking on about 1 or 2 story missions with about 3 go kill these while you are there grind quests, which resolve while you are doing the story.

Remember that WoW started its life as a EverGrind Clone. Another western MMO will clean up the market again. And I sincerely hope Blizzard is the team behind it again. At least they can be relied on to provide %60-%70 of the game playable at all times :D

Ps: Paladin Forever :D
