My experience was one to remember for me. It was in a random encounter of bandits (which aren't too much trouble later in the game and at this point it was MUCH later) and one of the bandits came at me with a spear. Keep in mind I am wearing brotherhood armor; the raider attacks me once and i was sent sliding almost across the entire map. When I saw the message window it said that I was critically hit for and outrageously large number. I was just sat there for a good 5 minutes before realizing what happen; I don't remember every laughing and crying so hard (my last save wasn't too recent).

    Damn, just remembered.

Near the Glow in F1, I got into an encounter with two raiders with 10mm pistols. They proceeded to cut me down while taking turn after turn while I was unable to do anything. They stole my turns!

That is funny stuff. Has it happened any other time? I can just imagine the thoughts and profanity going through your mind as you were being pummeled by two insignificant raiders.

Your character just wanted to die, so he spent all his action points :P

Let's see, Fallout stupid experiences: in the deathclaw hunting grounds with Ian, I gave him the 233. pistol and I was planning on running around screaming like a little girl (diplomat char with no fighting skills) while Ian would shoot them down in cold blood. He decided that a rusty knife was the right tool for the job...

Fallout 2 stupid experiences: having Marcus, Sulik, Vic and Cassidy in my party in a random encounter with deathclaws while returning from the military base. Sulik ran out of ammo for the 233 (my bad) and decided to go melee, Marcus reloaded the rocket launcher I gave him to carry (he was supposed to use the plasma rifle), and the other two had combat shotguns. Long story short, the deathclaws had a big old meal that day and no casualties. I lost about 2h of gameplay, including clearing out the base from top to bottom. That day I understood the wisdom of Per's words: save often and in different slots.

I agree wholeheartedly with multiple saves often. Every game I play, I save every so often in a 10 slot rotation.

On my first playthrough of 1, I once missed a hostile in Adytum and hit a kid instead, and crit the kid for an instant kill. Naturally I felt kinda bad, but went along with my business. I never knew about the penalty for killing a child so I was kinda annoyed at the random jerks that would attack me everywhere I went, I thought I was just being harassed since I was becoming famous in the wastes. Then I decided to check the Karma Tab and went "Oh that's what all thats about :o "

During this same playthrough I thought that I'd be able to help with the Dogmeat quest in Junktown by killing Dogmeat, I ran out of bullets while fighting him and then got mauled.

    Killed by Dogmeat!?

That never even occurred to me! Dogmeat has just grown in my esteem, and I didn't think that was possible anymore.

Once I ran out of ammo, I didn't really have the ability to hit him with melee, let alone damage him.

You could have always run like a cowardly bastard! But thats not as funny as getting eaten by dogmeat.

I got cocky, I was all "HAR HAR HAR It's just a dog with barely any health left, I will relegate to honorable fist-to-cuffs with the slavering beast! HO HO HO!" Then I missed like every attack and got trounced something awful.

This one isn't so stupid, just funny. When traveling the wastes in Fallout 2 you can encounter a hermit. You can trade for some healing powders if you like. Anyway, now there's a hermit running around with a robot motivator, a bunch of water chips and a magic 8-ball. I wonder what that hermit needs those for.

You can take him, just after you take care of the exploding cows... frakking cows got the better of Sulik however...

I had allot of vengeance steak that night :D

Ok, I defeated Frank Horrigan at the end of Fallout 2 by punching him in the groin over and over again with the Mega Power Fist(plus the Slayer perk).

In spite of the fact that it worked, it was really kind of stupid.

This one happened last night: I decided to speak to on of the Skulz in the Scum Pit before the barkeep houses that one dude, and they wound up attacking me. I was able to easily beat them, but was wondering how I could activate the necessary flags to continue the quest to bust them, so I went back to the Crash House to see if the quest would continue, but they attacked me, I kill them, and then quicksave because I leveled and because I thought that that would count as busting them, then I head to Killian's to sell my crap to him but he and his guards attack me (Well HE attacked me, all the guards ran). I felt really bad because Killian is like a clone of my friend's dad. :(

EDIT: Nice wordfilter. cuz Very Nice.
  18. Moving Target

    Moving Target Mildly Dipped

I can remember a few REALLY dumb things I did:

-The first was not understanding how the turn-based system worked, and getting stuck with one extra AP.... I think I was cornered by a rat. I stopped the game and re-started with a new character.

-I tried to beat the crap out of dogmeat. Just once. You never forget your first time.

-Ian. SMG. Me in the way of his target. Nuff said.

-See above, but with Sulik, and with more damage.

I'm sure there are others, but those are the mistakes I remember.

I remember my first attempt to play Fallout 1. No internet so no updates. Skimmed over the instructions to get basic gameplay and dove in. Never bothered to talk to anyone along the way, missed Ian of course. Hit Vault 15, couldn't get down elevator. Assumed that was it. Went back to Shady Sands, found out about The Hub. Went there, arrived after dieing many times and reloading. Walked around The Hub aimlessly getting nothing accomplished. Went to my brother in laws to check internet, found walkthrough and read something about a guy in a leather jacket thinking I was his father or something, and assumed it was in The Hub and was needed to continue game. Spent couuntless hours walking around The Hub in search of this guy but could not find him. Gee I wonder why. Knew very little of the Pipboy functions and got very frustrated. Thus I shelved the game for at least 2 years.
