The Mass' Effect on gaming or HOT ALIEN LESBOZ SEKS!

Seriously, this is some of the worst writing (warning, hot alien lesboz sekses inside) I've ever seen, plus I'm still kind of insulted by the existence of female-on-female sex and not male-on-male (that's just insultingly misogynist, even compared to the Witcher).

Still, GI Magazine gave it a 9.75, so it must be good.

Seriously, thoughts on the game?

I've been considering doing an editorial for GB how Mass Effect shows a definite regression in RPG design, by trying to artificially apply the strengths of the cinematic industry to gaming (in graphics, but mostly in general design) and thus undercutting the strength of reactivity that makes gaming strong. I'll have to play it before, but personally, I'm disturbed by ME's existence.

PS: don't forget this screenshot

We always knew you were gay.

Anyway, I, too, am offended by lack of mansecks.

W-what.

Bioware, I believed in you. Even though I haven't played any of your games since KotOR.

I remember being interested in this game. Now it just makes me sad. So very very sad.
This guy pretty much said it for me. And I'm generally in favor of girl-on-girl alien action.

Edit: Also, agree-ance with Per there. Except I did play a little of Jade Empire. A little.

I knew the game would be bad when I heard 3 things about it...

1) The villain has a black hole machine that only kills living things...

2) Seth "Sarcastic Robot" Green was playing a major role in the storyline

3) You could only be the Nice Good guy or Mean Good Guy, saving the universe is your only option because being Evil is not cool guys, seriously, guys, seriously, guys, guys!, seriously!

That's EXTREME :D !

I never liked Bioware anyway - I hated their games since Baldur's Gate. Except that it was a love-hate relationship then...

Heh :) .
It seems that the guy that writes dialogues for ME is Drew Karpyshyn - the man that wrote one of three worst Forgotten Realms ever :D .

I was thinking about getting this, but if it's just another KOTOR-clone, then meh. How is the combat though?

I'm definitely getting COD4 and Assassin's creed. Might get Ace combat 6.

yeah well, think of all the extra publicity this'll make! yay! more sales!

*sigh*

natural selection is failing us.

Now I haven't kept up with this game much, (Don't have anything to play it on, in any case) but I do seem to remember a video trailer where the dialog choices expand to full lines once actually selected. That is, Sheperd won't use moron-speak - Just the description of the choices are.

Which is still pretty bad.

Just a question Kharn. Based on some previous posts on other threads regarding this chauvinism theme, are you saying that because there are lesbians in the game, there should be gay men in the game? Going out on a limb, would this imply that you think people should like gay sex because they like lesbian sex? Are you spending too much time on The Order? Do you like men, is that what you are trying to tell us? j/k

Game-regarded, I'm not too impressed. Until Bioware changes their battle systems from RTwP, I'm not really interested in their games. While the plots might be mildly interesting, their battle systems generally bore me out of my mind. Will probably play it just to see the females copulating.

Edit: Desperate lesbians? I'm a lesbian trapped in a mans body, HELP!

That's because it looks like lesbian sex isn't created for lesbian characters, but for desperate male teenagers.

I have a distinct impression that desperate lesbians aren't a majority on gaming market :P .

sex sells. And Mass Effect sells to that crowd of horny teenagers described with brother none's "HOT LEZBO SEKS"

Pretty soon video-games are going to cease to become art-forms and simulations, and turn into dopemine injections, with EA and BIOWARE and Microsoft being the drug dealers.

Heh, ironic with my name.

Regrettably, games that qualify to that description are vastly outnumbered by the Undead Masses. Thassright, the undead masses. Sell a game in 1999, wait a year, slap on some new graphics, a few "new" weapons, a ton of hype and voila! Repeat every year. Not to mention the clone invasion. And the absolutely horrendous bastard child of both.

Dungeon Siege.

About the sex-hype, cue Marvel book heroines, cast into existence for the sole purpose of pubescent masturbation.

Insulted? In my opinion, female-on-female sex scenes are arousing for most guys. The trick is to present the participants as sex-craved girls, desperate for sex so badly that they have to pleasure each other, implying that the male observer could easily obtain the favours of their soft lumpy flesh just by having a penis.

It's not homosexuality itself that's being portrayed as attractive, it's desperate, sex-craved girls.

As misogynistic as it is, portraying women as little more than empty-headed tarts with uncontrollable sex urges... it works. Especially with teenagers. Sorry, I do get a boner when I see two chicks making out. It's more of an animal instinct thing than a product of rational thought. On that note, I don't think many guys ponder about the ethics of sex while banging a girl doggy-style.

That aside, using that kind of tactics to increase the sell of your stuff is low. Like a roof tile ad unexplainably starring a quasi-naked woman on a tiled roof.

Seckse is Seckse, games are games. I don't see the point in mixing, since you have no palpable benefits from sexual acts in a video game.
