I opened up this thread because I just saw 'Drive' and I would like to know your opinion about this movie...furiously! :D

So yeah, failed to find any 'Movie Thread' of sorts so I thought I might open up a thread instead of dedicating one to a single movie(although this one totaly deserves it!).

Damn, 'Drive' was the best "Mobster Movie" since Casino and definitely the best I have seen this year so far.

I love gangster movies. The best one in recent memory was Dum Maaro Dum. Abhishek Bachchan's character is without hyperbole the best police character I have seen in a movie.

The second best is the departed, if only because Jack Nicholson is an incredibly good actor.

Anyone who knows of any decent upcoming science fiction movies that are not prequels, sequels, or remakes, or blunt copies of good movies but done more terribly?

I am honestly in the mood for a good sci fi mystery or sci fi thriller that doesn't rapidly decent to SW rip off or Aliens rip off.

Read river of gods. It's the best sci fi novel ever written and reads like a political thriller

For movies though I'd say to watch blade runner if you haven't

Of course, you saw "Moon" ?

Loved it. And it quite fits what you are looking for. Original, sci-fi... hmm... drama/thriller ?

I'll check it out when I get the chance.

Not much decent Sci Fi on the telly or movie screen these days, its either cheap, stupid, or a combination of both.

Not a new movie but there's an old Sean Connery flick from the 1980s called Outland that fits the description of what you're looking for. Might be worth a look if you're interested. Sort of a wild-west-sheriff-in-space kind of thing.

Hey UniversalWolf, I know of that movie and I liked it.
For one no ridiculous gun fights where Connery's character blows down lots of opponents.

Reminds me, need to pick up the DVD for my collection.

No. Is it any good?

No, I still haven't seen it, though I ought to.
The Departed are the remake of Infernal Affairs, so I thought maybe you've seen both of them. Many people claim Affairs are better.

Departed is inspired by Infernal Affairs and features many of the same twists but they are still largely different movies, in tone and attitude. Also, Infernal Affairs is a trilogy. Watch and decide for yourself, it's certainly worth it.

Yep, Moon was actually a pretty fun movie. The plot's kinda basic, but the way the film reveals it is what makes Moon so awesome.

Definetly worth your time.

Outland's maybe not a great movie, but it's pretty good. It's always been under-the-radar for some reason.

I'll keep an eye out for Moon.

Rosemarry's baby - the late 60's movie

It's a brilliant movie.

I won't even say what genre because it with undermine the shock it can provide.

Just watch it.

Agreed, one of the best 60's movies ever.
[spoiler:7658642a20]I always had a feeling that 'The Devil's Advocade' was somehow influenced by this movie.[/spoiler:7658642a20]
