The "what are you watching" thread

pulp fiction is great, an amazing movie, the katana scene was really unsettling, worked good as shock value, and i really liked the theme about karma and underestimating strangers ability to commit violence.

I forgot about The Governor's kick-ass theme song when he returns in season 4. I might give the seasons I haven't watched a try. I like Jeffery Dean Morgan and enjoyed Negan's character before I stopped.

Just finished watching the King of the Hill revival. Honestly, it was a lot better than I expected. The animation isn’t great but it isn’t super noticeably different from the later seasons most of the time. As far as humor goes I think it’s about on par with the later seasons (meaning occasional funny jokes and lots of unfunny jokes). The “woke” aspects of it can be jarring at times. Arlen has more black people than ever before, which isn’t necessarily unbelievable but you know it’s done for “representation” reasons which rubs me the wrong way. Of the recasted voice actors, Joseph’s is easily the best one, but it’s still obvious that it’s not the same guy. Dale’s is very noticeable, which sucks because I thought Toby Huss might be able to do a good job. As for the male Asians in the show, it’s like the voice actors aren’t even trying. Ted Wassanasong doesn’t sound like himself at all, Chane Wassanasong’s voice is higher pitched now than when he was a kid, and Ronnie Cheng fucking sucks as Kahn. Everyone else sounds the same as ever though, which makes the new voices really stand out. But I guess it’s nice that poor, struggling Asian actors like Ronnie Cheng are finally being given opportunities in lieu of white voice actors with actual talent. There were a couple things Hank said/did that seemed out of character (unthinkingly accepting that Samoas are an offensive name for a cookie/describing staying up late talking about your feelings on the phone as something that “good friends” do/LIKING SOCCER!!!) but overall it was okay.

Oh, and Bill is in love with Peggy again, which was something that he seemed to have mostly gotten over as the original series progressed. No mention of Luanne or Lucky or Ladybird. There isn’t even so much as a picture of Ladybird in their house. I get that she was just a dog but I don’t think Hank would have forgotten her so easily. One of my favorite things in the show was Hank’s personification of Ladybird.

I just saw the latest episode of Alien Earth and it was another long drawn out one.
Not much happens with the exception of three events. Most of the rest was more character development, problem is that I still not have particular attachment to any of the characters so a lot of the interaction between characters is wasted on me.

The kid hybrid androids thing remains one of the most annoying parts for me, though I could see a series being made solely focusing on the plotline of uploading of human minds into an android body and if that personality is the same person as the original. Its just that the kids are not that interesting.

Also we had out first moment in which it is clear that it is not a smart thing to upload a child's mind into an android body that has enhanced reflexes and strength, especially when they become moody.
Who could have seen that one coming, right?

I wonder whose idea it was to put in all the Peter Pan references. I wish that person had not been listened to as I find it really grating.
I guess it was done to make the twenties age child prodigy tech billionaire sound eccentric, but honestly the symbolism is one of the things I find annoying about the show.

The eye critter showed up again, attacking a sheep and replacing one of its eyes in a disgusting way (disgusting is not synonymous with scary).

And at the end we saw a chestburster. One of the kid hybrid androids, Wendy, can mimic the sound of the aliens and could actually touch and pet it. So I guess we are going to see a plotline in which Wendy builds up some kind of relationship with the creature, not sure if I am a fan of that.

We're now four episodes in and I feel a lot of the events that took place could have been done in two or perhaps three episodes, that is how padded it feels.

I've only seen clips of the series, but it seems that the internet has already decided that it sucks. I wish they would just leave certain franchises alone.

Why does the protagonist android look like Amélie Poulain?

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the show and the characters. There are some writing issues though such as the fact that
Earth apparently has no detection system for a spaceship crashing to Earth and the fact that the Alien seemingly spares a main character from slaughter for no other reason than the plot requires it.
