Thinking about modding tactics, anybody still play?

Truesaiko

First time out of the vault
main question: if i manage to mod what i want... are there enough people still playing tactics who may want my mod?

mod info:

lots of new weapons, new ammo's, editing to the single player enemies already in game. giving every boss/commander/etc. their own unique weapon with a limited supply of ammo (or making it a normally found ammo... just rarer)

adding more enemies and/or enemy types (Raider assault troops with SAW's anybody?

tuning down some weapons, tuning others up... rarer ammo...

i just finished the mutant maps and i looked in my trunk... i found over 10k 9mm and over 25k 7.62's ...

more prefab characters (allowing to start with deathclaw or super mutant... even though they aren't allowed here ;-P) with background stories and additional starting equipment for them...

what do you think?

P.S. i feel i should note that this is all for the single player campaign...

and... if anybody could possibly tell me how to make sprites, step-by-step, i could get started right away .... or i could fiddle and try to learn how to use sprite creator regardless that the readme doesn't say what i need to do.

Look for "Modern Guns" mod first. This can give you some nice hours of gameplay, if you like tons of weapons and ammo.

What is think about your mod? I dunno. It's like you said nothing interesting, just overall thoughts. Try to edit first post, give some name to your mod.

It's annoying, when i see something like this "Thinking about modding tactics, anybody still play?" - no information about what is really inside.

You may ask user Darin about creating sprites, but i warn you - it's a time-consuming process, if you want to create new character sprites. Other than that, you can fing some tutorials in the link, given in Jarekfall profile.

thanks for the reply twoeyedyum

due to the response however, i guess my mod would simply be my opinion on game improvements ...

and second thing this thread told me is that there are not enough people still playing tactics for me to worry about figuring out how and what to pack up for a release as a public mod :)

and the sprites: no character sprites, i will use what is available to me for that. the sprites i want to create is simply the big and small pictures for new guns... sprite creator, it's readme, and it's maker's website were very little help in getting them to work... i get a "Wrong bitmap type" upon attempt to import...

thanks for the reply, got the info i needed. i am just going to have to fiddle with photoshop till i figure out how it is supposed to work :)

heya, just would like to say i play fot too, all new mods are welcome. i am currently working on mine too. I don't think (least i hope) that FoT players are not running low on numbers ... its really a great game and i notice that many modders here are working hard to make it even more impressive, good work people.

i have some idea~

and now the game window only have limited character portraits, can it be add more?

Where you suppose those portraits to be?

and now the game window only have limited character portraits, can it be add more?
It's an engine limitation

when we open the inventory screen, the screen only use half, the remaining half maybe can be use to browse the big portraits?

Man, it's not about "can be use" (atually "can be used") or not. It's about engine limitation. Game has no tools for easy changing of interface functions. You can change visuals of interface (by replacing some graphic files), but you can't move or add anything new without good "madskillz".

"It must be here because i want so" doesn't work in Tactics.

I know one man, who actually made dialog system with new screen, buttons etc. But he's busy with his own mod right now, and he's russian. 10% sure that he can help you.

The only big portraits in the game are those for the prefab characters. You can add more portraits to the game big and small, check the FAQ post for links to tutorials and search the forum, but you can only browse the big portraits if you create more prefabs linked to them.

But I mean see the big portraits in game ,not only when chosen prefabs.
And i MEAN you CAN'T just do it. Get serious scripting skills first. I fear no one here has those skills to implement your dreams.
