Which Level 50 Perk Is Best

DwayneGAnd

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
At level 50 you have a choice between:

Thought You Died: Increased damage and health.
Just Lucky I'm Alive: Increased critical hit damage. Increased luck when finishing a battle with low health.
Ain't Like That Now: Increased Attack Speed and AP regeneration speed.

Which is the best choice overall? What builds would benefit the most from one of the three?

Thought You Died: Melee builds
Just Lucky I'm Alive: Critical builds
Ain't Like That Now: Sniper-automatic guns builds.

I go all the time with JLIA because I love critical builds.

I honestly would go with "Thought You Died" every single time. That 100 hp is amazing. The other two are "meh" next to that in my opinion.

How about you find out for yourself since you should have made a character or two by now, and judged the perks based on that character rather than constantly making threads where you ask about builds?

Or make a general build thread and post questions there instead of constantly making threads for questions? Like this one of yours that TorontRayne merged to handle your threads: http://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/need-feedback-on-these-build-ideas.213450/

As for me, I'd go for JLIA. The crit boost goes well with high Luck and Sneak focused characters.

I personally think The "Just Lucky I'm Alive" Perk is the best one out of the batch, it's got a 50% Increase in Critical Damage, and with Better Criticals, you get a x2.25 bonus to crit damage, which is absolutely insane. Thought You Died is for explosive builds, hands down, or Heavy-Handed Builds.

JLIA is my go-to since it compliments my favorite build--high sneak, luck, and criticals.

Stacks with Better Criticals, another favorite, for killer damage.

So basically:

Thought You Died: Heavy Handed or Demolitionists
Just Lucky I'm Alive: Critical Damage Builds

But what about Ain't Like That Now? What kind of builds would benefit most from it?

I've done some research and come to the following conclusions:

Ain't Like That Now: V.A.T.S builds due to increased AP regeneation rate.
Just Lucky I'm Alive: Critical or stealth builds due to increased critical damage.
Thought You Died: Builds that do not depend on critical hits and focus more on high damge. This includes the usage of weapons that either have a very low critical chance, deal little critical damage, or cannot deal critical hits. Rapid fire weapons, heavy handed, shotguns, and explosives are examples.

Hey I just had a recent thought. I've been looking up online on the Fallout vault wikia page, and discovered that rapid fire weapons are affected by Ain't Like That Now. So I'm wondering if it would be the superior choice of perk over Thought You Died for weapons such as miniguns, machine guns, shotguns, and automatic striking melee weapons.

Also, exactly what defines a critical build? Is it a build that criticals with every shot? Exactly how high must your critical chance be in order to be a critical build? If your critical chance isn't high enough, would Ain't Like That Now be better?
