Why is Frank Horrigan so cool?

I seriously think Frank Horrigan is one of (if not the) most badass villains ever. He looks so incredibly sinister, and I think they did a really good job on his voice effects in Fallout 2.

In case you don't remember, here is a little screenshot and sound clip of Frank Horrigan:

The Master in Fallout 1 was pretty good too. Seems like they really know how to make an "evil" end-boss. Both were very convincing.

I thought Frank was two dimensional, boring and pretty weak. If he was better developed and put into some kind of interesting context, then I might have said that he was comparable to the superior Master. I actually found the F2 'boss' more comical than 'badass', which is unfortunate.

Agreed. Lieutenant/Master duo is much more badass than Frank Horrigan/Dick Richardson duo. Frank was just a generic armored mask-wearing red-eyed anime evil brooding enforcer dude, while Dick Richardson was a bad parody and likely the worst villain in any CRPG, ever.

There have been worse villains by far. Dick Richardson was a bad parody, yes, but at least he was mildly fleshed out in a kind of insane-scientist way.

Lou Tenant was an awesome supplement to the Master, though. Lou did believe the Master's words, but in a pragmatic way, which is why there's no way to get Lou to kill himself, even if the Master was wrong, no reason not to build an Empire. The Master was more of a visionary.

Hell, if it wasn't for the whole infertility thing, I would've sided with the Master. Just another step on the evolutionary ladder, no reason to believe humanity could survive without it, even.

Well, I thought he was really badass because he's a human-mutant-cyborg type thing, yet he's hypocritical. He keeps referring to you as "mutie" when he is one himself, and he's completely comitted to the eradication of "altered" humans.

I liked how the entire game didn't focus on him. He's not "the" prime evil you're fighting against, but rather the last-stand to protect it.

And the fact that he's given a name makes it seem more personal, not to mention I think the voice is extremely good, especially with the low-pitch and flanger-type voice effect.

Hmm... The Master is by far one of the most interesting bosses in the games I've played. The one from Torment beats him though, in my opinion.

As for Frank Horrigan.. nah, not interesting at all.

I don't think that Frank is all that special...

As Ratty said, he is just a generic "big boss" with armour, a huge physical appearance and a boring voice effect...

The master was an excellent end boss IMO

Frank was simply another big bad guy, he just happened to be the last one...

Master on the other hand was an interesting character, a much better villian, as he explains his plans, you can't entirely disagree with him. Suddenly you are questioning your quest, unsure what you are fighting for. Very exciting

I thought Horrigan had a lot of potential. Not a potential that was developed very well at all, mind you, but still...

    What a waste.

It was just a case of brains and brawn...

The President and his underlings, were the brains, and Horrigan was the brawn...

    How original!

The Torment baddie had the most "O RLY!?!?" affect but I still think the Master defeats him on pure freakish awesomeness.

Not sure what to think of Frank Horrigan.

All I can say about him is that it wouldn't have hurt if they left out the Frank Horrigan Encounter at the beginning of the game. Perhaps he would have been more of a surprise when you meet him in the end hall and have to fight your way out.

Once I saw him, I knew I was going to have to deal with him and when I finally ran into him, well he wasn't all that exciting. No mixed voices, no chance of an alternative ending..

Accidently being dipped because you do not understand the word villain sure is a surprise. Hey, I was young and naive.

Ok, The Master pwned, but I think Frank Horrigan was pretty damn cool as well. I just wish the dialogue(/monologue) at the end would have been longer - the "You've come a lot farther than you should have" bit was classic.

I'm biased to Frankies favour though, since I played FO2 before I played FO1, and FO2 was pretty much the first RPG I played.
