I do see there being a chance in Microsoft having a light bulb moment after hitting another line of coke and thinking "Hey, we can diversify!" and allow the IP to be used by other Microsoft studios.

Question is, are any of them any more qualified to make a Fallout game than Bethesda is at this point?

Microsoft/XBOX are the ones who own the Fallout IP now, if they really try & play their cards right, we could get another game studio to work on a new Fallout game that's NOT Bethesda.

But to answer your question @Vault Dweller Donny , just like what everybody else has been saying on here, it's dead under the direction of Bethesda. Again, unless Microsoft/XBOX intervenes & gives the IP to someone else, don't get your hopes to high anytime soon.

Yeah, I think it might be better that Bethesda is beholden to someone else for a change if they fail, I think if elder scrolls 6 fails on a commercial or critical level maybe that would be enough to return them to their roots,

I only hate Bethesda’s treatment of fallout, Morrowind is a masterpiece and it’s clear they once had strong RPG roots but it makes me sad they don’t even make RPGs anymore,

Even than, Microsoft overall has been dropping the ball since the end of the XBox 360 so who even knows what to expect at this point,

As for the people saying Microsoft might fix things by handing the series to another studio—I don’t trust them either. They’ll probably go, ‘Hey, didn’t Obsidian make the beloved Fallout: New Vegas? Let’s have them make another one! People will LOVE it!’ But Obsidian isn’t the same company anymore. Do I even need to bring up The Outer Worlds or... Avowed?

Even if another studio were to make a new Fallout game, they’d still be stuck following all the dumb changes Bethesda forced into the lore. It’s over.

Either that or they'd go with their own ideas for what Fallout should be or follow some industry trend to capitalize on.

Fans are the ones doing it for no other reason then the love of the IP.
I've seen many developers in videos go on and on about how much they are a fan of (insert long running series here) but then the game comes out and...

Fans who have no bone in the game and literally cannot capitalize on it are the only ones who can cater to the old.
Anything that a corporation touches will automatically be steered in the direction of mass market appeal (lol, they're not particularly good at that right now though!).

Hopefully with some AI stuff it might be easier to make certain projects that are TC mods.

The future of the franchise is in good hands. We have Mutants Rising well on its way, other classic Fallout modding projects, and a few upcoming New Vegas releases that will keep the story and the world of this series alive.

If you are concerned with what the Maryland studio is doing, ignore them. They're not interested in creation, and they get off on your misery, so don't give them your energy.

My two cents, as someone who only played 3 and NV and hasnt seen the TV show (though have watched online reviews of it and Fallout 4):

I don't think Bethesda themselves will learn their lesson, however with how mediocre their last game (Starfield) seems to have been and the more vocal online criticism against it (at least compared to their previous releases), I hold out hope that if they continue to pump out similar slop that meets mediocre reception, their overlords at Microsoft will get nervous about a potential decline in sales and might pull some of the big money-makers (like Fallout) away from them and try them out on another studio. Whether that studio will be better or worse of course is anybody's guess, but that's my only hope for this franchise turning around.
