        So which one is the "official" GOTY award?

        Is it the BAFTA?
        Is it the D.I.C.E.?
        Is it the Game Awards?
        Is it the Game Developers Choice Awards?
        Is it the Golden Joystick Awards?
        Is it the NY Game Awards?
        Is it the SXSW Gaming Awards?
        Or is it any other one?

        I just checked and Elden Ring won the major:
        Game Awards, Golden Joystick Awards, Japan Game Awards and SXSW Gaming Awards GOTY.

        And also won the smaller:
        Ars Technica, Destructoid, Edge, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Empire, Eurogamer, Forbes, Game Informer, GameSpot, GamesRadar+, Giant Bomb, IGN, and Polygon GOTY.

        While GOWR only won 3 small GOTY awards: Time, Hardcore Gamer and Titanium Awards GOTY.

        Most other "minor" (not GOTY) awards GOWR won over Elden Ring were stuff like best narrative, best game trailer audio (lol), best writing, etc. I don't think ER has much writing or stuff like that, so it makes sense I guess.

        ER won "minor" awards for stuff like best world, best game direction, best roleplaying, best multiplayer, best art direction, etc.
