Brian Fargo's studio inXile had a gameplay reveal for its latest game Clockwork Revolution at the Xbox Showcase 2025.
A relase date is yet to be announced, the game was first revealed in 2023.

"This new trailer delves into the darker side of Avalon, and the mean streets that you (as Morgan Vanette) grew up on with your gang, the Rotten Row Hooligans. In this trailer we set out to show some of the depth of the world, the grittier side of town, as well as some of the RPG systems you’ll use to customize your character, interact with the people and world, and take the fight to Lady Ironwood and her forces."
On their website they describe the game as:
Clockwork Revolution is a time-bending steampunk first-person RPG. After stumbling across an incredible invention that allows you to travel into the past, you discover the city you call home—the vibrant steam-powered metropolis of Avalon—has been carefully crafted through the alteration of historical events. By traveling back to key moments, your interactions and choices will have a butterfly effect on the deep, narrative-driven world and characters of Avalon, causing them to change and react in unprecedented ways."

I had thought this was going to be an Arcanum spiriual sequel and had gotten excited, but then I watched the video.

It looks good I guess, but not sure if it's my thing. Guess I'll try it when Director's Cut or whatever collected edition gets released.

That being said, it's always nice to see steampunk given some love.

Hopefully it doesn’t end in the same situation as Avowed, where Obsidian bit off more than it could chew. Going from isometric 2D to 3D is a huge leap.

Looks cool, but that dialogue... not a fan.

That art looks very much like Arcanum's box art, though. Like, to the point where you'd expect this game to be Arcanum 2. Which it clearly isn't.

Aaaahhh, Arcanum ... My favourite game ever. I often walk the streets of Tarant or Caladon in my dreams, followed by Ugly Mutt and faggot Virgil whining like a bitch about goddamn 'wings of fire'. How I miss that game.

The player character being voiced and having it in the third person reminds me too much of Fallout 4. I guess this game is leaning toward the modern casual audience for maximum profit, judging from the trailer.

This has been the trend with InXile honestly. The tone going from Wasteland 2 to Wasteland 3, it was obvious that they were flip-flopping between keeping it at serious as W2 and trying to appeal the audience of Bethesda's Fallouts.

One of us misremembers or I guess we've perceived it differently.

The whole franchise is filled with humor and humorous references, which probably get worse and worse as time goes by. I'd argue the first one was the most serious game, but it was also limited by the tech of the time as to what it could show.

Wasteland 3 is probably more humorous than Wasteland 2, but its jokes are also a lot dumber.

I think it's the general tone and art style of Wasteland 1 and 2 as well.
Both have humor in it but 2 does try to take itself a lot more seriously and presents its world and characters and factions as a lot more gritty.
1 had flare. Pizaz.

I think a lot of this is because character models in WL3 tend to be overly expressive and seem comical more often that not. I do agree that the overall art style in WL2 was grittier. UI also gave more of that atmosphere too.

Wasteland 3 had its gritty and bleak moments, but those were usually hidden behind a wall of bizarre.
