As i said: only my opinion, no offence. For me there was simply a total lack of a post-apo atmosphere.

I almost agree. I like the idea that it is a while after the bombs fell so things are making a comeback. But I will continue to criticize setting games about a post apocalyptic wasteland in places that were already wastelands before the war.

For any sort of North American themed game, the retro 50's thing wouldn't even be original. It's almost a requirement.
That shit was real and it spread absolutely false propaganda.
If it were alternate history where the bombs fell in the 50's. Then it would have to be there.
And if there were a rising threat of nuclear war right now, there's no doubt in my mind that they'd use the same tactics and misinformation because there's probably the same ratio of uneducated people today as there was to people today as there were back then.
Though thinking that duck and cover would work really takes a special kind of stupid.

My opinion is, a post-apocalyptic universe can perfectly look the same in a ton of game, it doesn't matter. What matters is gameplay, not plot or graphisms - not when it comes to post-apo.
Fallout 1, 2, 3, Tactics, BoS, New Vegas? They all use the same universe, yet they all are very different. I didn't hear anyone complaining Fallout New Vegas used the same universe Fallout 1 did use, and that it would be boring to still play in the same universe.

Mad Max, The Road, and a ton other movies used basically the same universe and plot... Is it boring? Anyone posted a comment on The Road that said "Omg post-apo america so boring?" No, because in movies the same basic plot can lead to very different things.

It's the same in video games. I don't care if a game is another STALKER clone if the gameplay is different, if, for example, it focuses on finding food and establish settlements rather than killing.

It's true that the important thing is what you make of it. This is shown not least in the case of The Lord of the Rings, whose setting was derivative in many respects, but was nevertheless characterized by a strong creative vision (and is now perceived as original simply because it's so widely imitated, directly and indirectly).

That said, I don't see the need for leaping forward to say that we shouldn't point any such things out just because hey we get a game and it might not matter and why don't you knock it off with the negative vibes. That's the kind of attitude that's made NMA famous around the internet as a place where people placidly and unquestioningly look forward to any half-baked promise of post-apocalyptic gameplay.

I hope it wasn't directed to me, because I fancy being a man that always finds something to criticize ; however I don't see how "lack of originality" of a post-apo game can be said to be bad as we don't know yet how it will turn out. People saying "Oh no, another post-nuke world!" make as much sense as people saying "Oh no, another world with magic" when a book comes out.

Did you actually read this stuff, though? It reads pretty much like they're either deliberately creating a Fallout pastiche, or else they've played Fallout and think that's How You Do Post-Apoc much like some think elves and dwarves are How You Do Fantasy. There's nothing odd about noting that.

:look: Im risking a megakick to the face for this megabump but is this project forever missing in action, or worse yet is it dead? The link to their website is, apparently, broken.
