I certainly hope so. Now i'm gonna be worrying about it when I play! >.< Oh well. Anyways thanks for the help! Appreciate it.

I've read that after 13 years of completing the game, the game ends with a nuclear explosion. So i've read, never experienced it.

yes there is, and i just checked it, loaded up a saved game started walking around the wastes, and it says something ( spoiler if you dont wanna know) like " While waiting for you to bring the holy geck Arroyo finnally dies of starvation and dehydration... may their bones lay in the wastes, in peace" ( all from memory... didnt write down wat it said)

ya we know about the time limet.
But after you fineshed the game is the time limet still there ?
Or did you finish the game already fallout ?

During my quest to get the GECK, The dude from my tribe kept rushin me right, and when i finally get it, and get back to my hometown, the Enclave comes and takes everyone, and kills some dude in front of the bridge.

Now that dude in heaven is rushin me AGAIN to save my tribe. Why cant i take my time and do quests in all the towns first? I dont like being rushed. Thats why i hated the waterchip quest in FO1. Do i HAVE to go save my tribe from the Enclave ASAP? Or can i chill out and roam the wastelands for as long as i want?

I just wanna have fun, roam the desert and level up before i take on the Enclave.

Sorry if i seem annoying. Im just frustrated.

Munchkin! :D

Duh. Search the forum for "Time limit". You don't need to rush (unless you're role-playing ofc), unless you want to play more than 13 game years...

Merged with a bunch of similar threads.

I know I've encountered a time limit, before I got the GECK, I think after 4 dreams the game ended. But it was only 3 years into the game. On the other hand, once you get the GECK, there's no chance of your village "dying" from draught and starvation, cause they're being quite well fed on the Oilrig.

I'm fairly sure once you get the 4th dream your games over, that is unless you find the GECK, in which case your 4th dream, assuming you've had three so far, is the one where Han' tells you to return.

I've never played for more than 4 years in the game... Never needed to. But I've definately had my game end within 3 years.

Ehm, completely bullshit. Unless you spend 13 game years, there is *no* time limit. Fact.

I don't believe you. I've had my game's end in less than three years, prior to getting the GECK. I get the 4th dream, Han' tells me it's too late, dream fades, screen goes black, and then the main menu pops up. It's happened more than once.

Right. Care to explain then why I got the fourth Hakunin dream at least five times when playing the game without the game ending? "ZOMG teh new bugzorz!!1"
Fallout 2 doesn't have such a time limit. Period.
If there was such a time limit, don't you think the developers would be kind enough to add a counter similar to the one in Fallout?

Hah!
That's probably a bug in your game. That isn't supposed to happen. At all.

Wasn't there a fifth dream that was not implemented? I think there were textfiles for that, maybe even WAVs? Or am I in the wrong.

At any rate, Rad Static, this is not suppose to happen. Have you attacked anyone in Arroyo by chance?

Yep just got "The end" after thirteen years.

I was tooling around Modoc trying to get the random with the alien blasters and I just ran out of time.

Question can you change your age in a save game editor and reset it that way?

Re: RE: Time Limit? (SPOILER)

I've had the time limit before I got the GECK finish the game and boot me to the main menu. I had to go back a few save games and alter my path.

I think you've got to get the GECK, then the time limit stops.

I've run out of time multiple times, I'd get the fourth dream and then I'd be kicked back to the menu. Not so fun!

How can people say that there is NO time limit in Fallout 2 when you have ( yes you do have ) 13 years game time to finish the main quests? It's a contradiction. It happened to me as well severla times. How can people ask what can you do in 13 years game time? Well, is not that much as people believe. I never got over level 35 in over 35 games i have played yet i have finished all the quests and most of the time i have finished the game as well.
But sometimes , I was caught in the Encalve's trap maze, trying to figure it out when the game ended, other time I was fighting Deathclaws in a random encounter trying to level more when the game ended. I wonder if there is something to go around this, to reset or to extend the game time.

You must be doing something wrong. The most I played to was level 45 or so, with many years to go (at least 7-8). I haven't played 35 games, either, so you should top me when it comes to experience.

Sometimes? You mean more than one time, you played for the whole 13 years (a long time) then had the game end while you were in "real time", not during extended rest or travel?

Oh, funny thread. Reminds me of my famous f*ck-up when I last played.
Interestingly enough, the 1.05 patch changes something in the game what makes you randomly encounter a LOT less crap to kill. My levelling technique is troll around SF and endlessly kill mutants, floaters and centaurs.
With 1.05 I spent all 13 years before lvl 45... I was pretty pissed.

I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy levelling. Few years ago I had char at lvl 92 (yeah ninety fking two), but the save got lost in bad sectors. I wanted to get all the perks :D To bad back then I did not know about lvl cap.
