Since I acquired a few, almost not used cases, I decided to move my 'secondary' PC into one, abandoning the old PC case that served as a vessel for my frankencomp, a PC put together as I gradually upgraded my main machine.
Frankencomp worked perfectly, its loins free of games and bloatware, running its 3,2Ghz P4 happily and hardly making any noise, before I decided to transplant him into a new 'body'.
So, being not that much of a newbie in putting pc's together, I assembled him into a new case. Everything was in place, doublechecked all connections, plugged the power supply into the contact, made sure the green LED in my P5ND mobo was on, indicating that it was functional, and pressed the ON switch.
Nothing.
Tried again.
Nothing.
Pulled the power off, checked the pwr switch and reset connections, and tried again. Still nothing.
Tried a few other, different combinations, and still. Nothing. The computer didn't start.
So, I thought either the pwrswitch button or wiring is fucked. No big deal, as I had an identical case next to it, and promptly replaced the whole front panel with a similar one. Rechecked I had plugged the power connections in properly, pressed the ON switch again.
Nothing.
Goddammit. I pulled off the front panel off my old case, disconnected all wires from the 'new' front panel, and plugged the old case switches in, thrilled by my resourcefulness and absolute 'genious'.
Nothing.
Ah-ha, so the problem wasn't the switch, now, was it? Unplugged everything, plugged everything back in, and gave it a go.
Nothing.
Not even a power up and a wail from the PC Speaker, telling me I fucked up something in its entrails.
It's really strange. The power LED on the mobo is green, indicating it's good to go, and all the power supply cables are on, including the one to my GPU. I have no idea what the fuck is going on, and why this computer doesn't want to come back to life. So, anybody fancy a guess?
