Games you recommend and why?

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
So, I thought to myself, why not start a thread, where we can recommend games, that do not come from greedy publishers, who push for glorified gambling and microtransactions in 60$ games.

So, without further ado, here are some of my favourites and why:

a)Distance

http://store.steampowered.com/app/233610/Distance/

-It is a successor to a free indie game Nitronic Rush. You play as a car and your goal is to reach the end of the track as soon as possible. However, it takes a unique spin on the genre, by adding wings to the car allowing for a temporary flight, jumping abilities, rotating in the midair with a set of dual controls (WASD + arrows) and deadly traps. It is very climatic and has got huge modding community and ton of tracks. Steam version is better because of that, although you can get it drm free.

b)Them Fighting Herd

http://store.steampowered.com/app/574980/Thems_Fightin_Herds/

Cute Equine characters, akin to My Little Pony, beating the crap out of each other. A damn good fighting game, with great difficulty and amazing art style.

c)Shantae Series:

-You can currently get first two games on gog, the third one should come in a year or so hopefully.

https://www.gog.com/game/shantae_and_the_pirates_curse

-It is 2D platformer, with great characters and damn good game mechanics.

d)Cossacks:

https://www.gog.com/game/cossacks_anthology

-One of the best classic games, on top with stronghold series. Very enjoyable, but later instalments suck.

e)Disciples 2:

https://www.gog.com/game/disciples_2_gold

It is a 2D game, similar to heroes, but simpler. You can not move your units across the battlemap and the fights are duels basically. Third game sucks.

f)Rayman 2 and 3:

-One of the best 3D platformers of all time. I definitely like it more than Origins and such.

g)Far Cry 1:

https://www.gog.com/game/far_cry

-Get it cheap on gog.

-First Far Cry and still one of the best in my opinion. It is really bloody tough, very climatic and good storyline. I used to be scared of this game, when I was younger.

h)Besiege:

-It is a design your own machine to complete the objective kind of a game. It is good, but it targets specific audience.

i)HyperDimension Neptunia series on GOG.com

-Parody of the entire gaming industry with anime characters. Grindy, but fun. Still get it on sale.
-A jRPG.

j)Orcs Must Die 1 and nothing else after that.

-A tower defence game with a twist. You play as a battle mage and stop hordes of orcs with traps and automatic crossbow. Very fun.
-The later games introduced forced COOP and the game became annoying.

Rollercoaster Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, and Locomotion. Anything done by Chris Sawyer is just awesome. If you haven't played any of these business simulators, do yourself a favor and check them out. Shout out to Blue Fang's Zoo Tycoon as well.

If you like micromanagement and dark, gross humor, them Bullfrog's Theme Hospital is for you. You can get it on GOG.com as well as other Bullfrog titles, which I hear are excellent.

Pizza Connection/ Tycoon 2
https://www.gog.com/game/pizza_tycoon_2

You start with small pizzeria and try to make it a worldwide franchise. You can customise your recipes (80 toppings), buildings, staff (from security and janitors to chefs) and preffered customers (elderly, teens, blue-collars etc.).
You also use your connections to local mob to drive out other pizzeria owners (from sending some goons to scare away customers or letting some rats out in the kitchen to arson or organising police raid.)

Gothic and Gothic 2, Risen
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/6375/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/40300/Risen/

They're similar games so I piled them in one.
They're really enjoyable RPGs with decent enough writing and hours of content.
You really feel satisfaction when you level up your skills or work your way up in faction's rank. World doesn't scale with you, but even late game you can encounter challenging foes.
Combat system is a bit clunky at the beginning, but as you learn more moves it gets better.
You can get them really cheap on sales.

(I don't recommend as much later entries- Gothic 3 and Risen 2, but they are still fun. I don't recommend at all Risen 3 and Gothic 4).

Uplink
http://store.steampowered.com/app/1510/Uplink/

The best hacker game on the market ever.

Hotline Miami 1 and 2
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/56930/

Fast and brutal top-down shooter. Addictive as hell gameplay.
If you get satisfied by beating both campaigns, finding full picture of a story and both secret endings you can play one of the thousands levels made by fanbase.
