Playing a complete Morrowind playthrough for the 3rd time to try and see all the factions. This time I'm a male Imperial whose joined the Fighter's Guild, the Imperial Legion, the Imperial Cult, and House Redoran. Lots of stuff for a warrior-type to do. I also plan to become a werewolf when I go to Solsthiem. I was a vampire for a little while just so I could get Eltonbrand and Spellbreaker, but boy being cured of it is a bitch. I managed to do it though.

I'm only level 12 and I already have the most powerful longsword and shield in the game. Ah, the good times before developers put in skill caps on quests to stop you from getting the best loot right off the bat.

    Which do you prefer?

Grrrr I hate that stupid shit, Bethesda just loves doing that. Funny thing is usually those items you receive through quests post-morrowind are shit.

Just replayed and finished HL2 episode one, while haven't played it for over 8-9 years. I have to say i hate it in comparison with the original HL2, which was also a wonky shooter (HL2 weapons and shooting mechanics feel terrible to me), but it gave you much more in terms of varied gameplay with many open spaces and an ability to move without being encumbered by a companion. This episode one is mostly narrow corridors with "hp spunge" like enemies and a companion that is mostly immortal, gets in the way and destroys the lonely (in a good way) atmosphere HL2 had. The gameplay was not enjoyable as a pure FPS and the impossibility of the whole escape makes it hard to really get lost in the gameworld. Coming back to the citadel? Finding your way to the core? Then escaping? Then escaping the underground, all while the clock is ticking?

Also to be noted, imho, Alex was a much better character in HL2, where she was used sparingly. Here she is suddenly turns into your waifu, constantly in your face, trying to create some kind of bond or whatever. I mean, what the fuck are you thinking, the city is about to be destroyed and you are constantly blabbing about irrelevant issues, slowing down the pace at which we should proceed by not opening doors fast enough, sitting down and making jokes. I'm having a suspicion that the devs were forced to quickly convert the rather loose relationship with Alex in the first game, into a romantic blowup doll for the needy virgin gamers in episode one.

Will now try to replay HL2 episode two (which i barely remember, having only played it once).

EP2 was better than EP1 and the OG HL2 for me. Loved it.

But on the other hand i had more fun in the HL demo than i had in the vanilla HL game.

True, but at least Morrowind has post-game content instead of just saying "Oh, well, you probably have a shitton of sidequests you haven't done yet, just go do those." Like there's post-game quests for every single faction and it's great, especially considering how many factions there are in Vvardenfell.

Since i don't remember much from it, i hope so. For some reason the shooting mechanics did not bother me when i replayed HL2 this winter, but in episode one it get obvious very fast that all the weapons are weak, inaccurate and very unsatisfying to shoot. Maybe it's because HL2 has a more linear progression of enemies and gives you much more space to operate in.

I was talking about the quests from oblivion onward. The quest rewards are garbage and any weapon you end up receiving sucks balls compared to what you're using because "Muh RNG lootz".

Last week or so I've been pouring hours into Final Fantasy X. I was pretty much done with jrpg's after FF 9 - loved 6, 7 and 9, but started playing more on pc and getting into deeper western rpg's. Never owned a console after the first PS either. So I never got around to playing FF X or any of the later installments, and from what I saw, read and heard, I wasn't very interested either. I felt like nothing could really top 7 anyway.

But lately I've felt a bit nostalgic about the series, and figured that it would be fun to go back. The fantasy tropes of western rpg's have also started to bore me quite a bit. And when I saw the hd remake of X/X-2 on sale on Steam I thought I might as well check it out. And I've had a blast. I can see why most people felt the series took a wrong turn with X, but it still felt all kinds of nostalgic and like a proper FF game. The art, the music and the story is all there. As well as endless grinding, ridiculously well hidden secrets, tons of moments where it's your only chance to do something or find something, and missing it will lock you out of the best weapons or abilities of the game. But it's all so much fun, and really draws me in. Even if the writing isn't that great, it still manages to tell a compelling story with likeable characters and moments that bring out the feels. Now I'm at the very end of the game and can't decide if I'm gonna grind it out and try to do all super bosses, get all ultimate weapons and so on, or just finish the story and be done with it.

Replayed and finished HL2 Episode 2. Now all that is left to do, is wait for another 10 to 20 years for the sequel.

You liked it as much as i did compared to vanilla and EP1? :P

Also if you are playing the old HL + the expansions you should really try the mod Azure Sheep. It is how blue shift was supposed to be IMO! Great fun.

I still liked and replayed the original HL2 more. For the time of it's release it seemed so groundbreaking to me, while ep2 already feels a bit outdated if you consider that crysis was released only a month later. And i much more prefer soloing the game instead of being paired with an AI. It was scaled down from ep1, but still felt like mommy was hand holding you. All in all a good experience and i want the to continue the story, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. Especially the guns, as most of the time it was faster to just throw stuff at enemies with the gravity gun or run them over with a car (which ironically is a bit more realistic if you consider how much kinetic energy a big object hurled in the air has).

Don't have the first one, i bought the orange pack on steam winters sale.

I preferred turn-based, but sometimes the situation demands real-time, when my game got fucked up and an enemy's turn just won't go. Fast turn-based is weird, but that's just me.

Anyway, I can't yet get back to it, but I've just grabbed System Shock 2 for free and also got Consortium just for $4, so I'm looking forward for them. Talking about SS2, anybody here would recommend System Shock 1?

Not the latest playtrough but the one before had me quit after finding the cave with all the high tech merc's.. More money than you would ever need and not enough money from vendors is really not that fun :P

Currently playing way to much Dota 2 and due to the missions from the battle pass i only play unranked wich have made me slightly suicidal.
Might plyg in my new components in the new PC case i got and start to mod F3-nv or even Skyrim again.
