I used to like Fallout 3, but then I played New Vegas and thought that this is more like the " real original Fallout " . Fallout 3 doesn't even feel like fallout.... It's like a fallout rip off in another game universe

Or perhaps the Brotherhood will finally see the need for evolution.

we saw this evolution in F3 to be honest. Paladins in shining armor here to save the wasteland ...

... Who were slowly defaulting to human nature due to its horrible pressures and the godlike power they had..

By hiding in the Pentagon and using a giant robot to destroy the Enclave.

Well, someone had to finish off the Enclave a little extra, eh?

They didn't even manage to finish off the Enclave. There's -more- Enclave out there, according to them.

    * sight * Because war... war never changes, like the perpetual war between the Heroic Brotherhood of Steel and the Vile Enclave.

Okay I know it has just been one game but I am so damn convinced that in the next Bethesda Fallout the Brotherhood will go to war with the Enclave again that its no longer funny.

Hell like a friend of mine told me what one of his friends though Fallout 4 should be about "The Enclave is creating super soldiers".

but you can be sure that one way or another the Enclave WILL be in Fallout 4 if Bethesda is making the game. They are just way to easy to exploit as villains, and if its "cool" then it has to be in a Bethesda game. No matter if its "really" cool or not. - If that makes any sense at all ...

The Brotherhood in F3 was a soulless and cheesy organization. Many of the parts in the game have been twisted. Super Mutants being not more then a generic replacement for orcs wandering trough the wasteland. Why have they been the biggest danger in the Wasteland again? Or all those "idiotic" fights in the ruins of D.C. what the hell was the meaning of that anyway? You remember the capitol, Super Mutants and I think Talon Mercs. And on top of it you had the Brotherhood around somewhere ...

So much potential simply lost. Instead of the Brotherhood they should have done more with the Supermutants and the Talon Merc faction. Both giving some "intelligence" not just making them generic enemies. It would have lead to a much better game. Particularly because it would have been very hard to see any side here as "bad" or clearly "good". Hell. They could have still included the Enclave somewhere. I think it would have been great with the option to join them. Would have made 3 factions in the end.

New Vegas is alright, it felt like the Strip was extremely lacking, it was what, only 3 areas total? I did like the fact you could choose to work with different factions instead of one and only one in FO3. The DLC for New Vegas though is what makes the game amazing in my opinion. I've currently played through Dead Money, Honest Hearts and Old World Blues and i loved every second of each of them. I've taken a break from finishing Lonesome Road and went back to playing FO3 and it didn't ruin anything for me, in fact i enjoyed it more than ever.

Sounds more like Obsidian made you bored with Bethesda... which is understandable.

It did for a long time, but it's been like a year since I played NV, so I've managed to replay Fallout 3 last week. Now I'm gonna start a new play through of New Vegas so I guess I can forget about Fallout 3 for the next two years or so.

While I'm not ecstatic with what Bethesda did with Fallout 3, and even less so with Skyrim, I doubt they'll be bringing the Enclave in Fallout 4. If they do then that just might be the straw that breaks the camel's back and makes me stop buying their games.

Most of the rumors say that Fallout 4 will be set on the East Coast, and most likely in the Boston region. That means the Enclave will probably be back, and you will once again search for a macguffin, help the knights of the round table (ahem, Brotherhood) against the black knights (ahem, Enclave) and you need to defend the horn of providence (ahem, water purifier), against their black magic (ahem, virus)

    Erm, what?

Why setting game in Boston mean Enclave will be back? Any reference?

Well, it's all gleaned from Bethesda's responses (assuming that they are true to their word) as well as their tendencies in development style.

New Vegas will have no affect on Bethesda's future Fallout development, most likely meaning it will take place far from the West.

Massachussetts has been alluded to several times in Fallout 3 as a legitimate place of travel (the Commonwealth, the Institute, etc. are all said to be up north and Boston seems to be the most likely place).

As for the Enclave, it's simply the history of Bethesda not coming up with really original "villains" - they've all been a derivative of something that came before. And seeing the Enclave playing a large part in Fallout 3, it's very unlikely that Bethesda would let the Enclave go, since they are not totally destroyed in Fallout 3.

Well this thread has got me worried now. I skipped FO3 after reading it was shallow and banal (although i did kindof expect to read that here on NMA), and went straight on to NV, which i love. I think Beth make weak, shallow, but visually amazing games that i generally skip or get bored of real fast (oblivion et al). So when i heared that some key players from the old-skool BIS crew in the form of Obsidian were making NV i was sold there and then.

Now i'm wondering if I'll be able to stomach FO3 after getting into NV. A freind of mine says he much prefers FO3 - citing, for example, the awesome atmosphere of when you first walk out of the vault, woefully underquipped with a pop-gun and no armour to explore the wasteland - just like FO1. It's sounds, in fact like FO3 is like FO1 in that it is more 'tight' in it's story and atmosphere, and NV is more like FO2 in that it's just downright awesome to play, but a bit ..... bloated?

I honestly don't know as I have FO3 missing from my experience. Is this correct?

I try to replay Fo3 as a mode of NV but all I can find is Fo3 has nothing good point. atmosphere? I was great for 10 minute after that? Nothing interesting. There's only a bunch of ruins that makes nothing interesting. I rather explore Mojave. so I came back to mojave I feel refreshed!
