Question regarding SSD ports.

So, my new gaming computer has 4 slots for this very particular part right here:

However, I do not see any ports for this other part right here:

So uh, I'm a blonde bimbo when it comes to computer stuff,do I need to connect both ports from the SSD or do I just need to worry about the small one?

Lucky for you I just installed an SSD. You should only need to plug in the top port. That's all I had to do.

If my memory serves, the long one is the power supply and the short one is the data connection. So the short one needs a connector to attach it to the main board, which hopefully your SSD or MB included already, otherwise you have to go buy one.
Your PSU should already come with several of the long ones for power.

Or maybe it's the other way around...

I've never heard of using the short one only, must be some new magic.

You're probably right. My memory isn't the bestest sometimes. :drunk:

The computer I got is prebuilt so they decided to cram all the cables in behind a metal cover and I dunno how much I wanna fuck around with it all. I guess I'll just buy a cheap SSD and connect it to the top port and see if it works, otherwise I gotta fish out the cables somehow from behind the metal cover.

Well, I figured it out eventually and the solution was stupidly simpler than any of the online help apparently accounted for.

So what was the solution? You plugged the things into the slots that fit them and then it worked?
Nah I looked up whatever the hell this page is in English:

And then just created a new storage space.
When I plugged in new shit to my old Desktop it would just do it automatically, but here the computer refused to "open it up" as a storage space so I just used this page from the control panel to set it up myself.
