Junkmaster
Having trouble opening the cells in the fortress/prison in the Quincy. I have a character with 135 lockpick and it ain't working. Is there a key somewhere?

Yup, just make sure the baby deathclaws patroling outside arnt around when you do.

Ive had them come in when I opend it before.

Prehaps they hear it ?

Just shoot them through the window with a Pancor jackhammer (or some autoshotgun). Even better have a couple of guys waiting by the door so only one persion can get through and the others all line up behind him and "bam bam bam" I full auto burst from the shot gun at point blank range....

Oh Duh! My dumb mistake. The switch!

You know, playing Quincy is one of the best of the battles in Tactics. But the thing I don't like about it is that it could have been done so much better. Lazy programmers!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh, as for the shotguns- best results steal them from the trader encounter.

The hardest part of this mission is trying kill the beastlords in the brothel without them killing anyone :) I think I did it once though

Is one of the best battles in Tactics? It is like the ONLY map in the entire friggin' game that is true to the name of the game.(Shirley Temple - Name Game 1969)

And fer shotguns -- overpowered.

I agree. The Quincy map is probably the best map in the game, but other maps are neat as well (in a way). I liked the Preoria mission because of the neat underground storage facility and the "complexity" of keeping those tribals on the surface alive. Plus, those giant cockroaches are a nice addition, methinks (except that super-duper-bug, that's just stupid). And what about the map where you have to attack the heavily guarded mutant base (not St. Louis, mind you)? I thought that was a pretty difficult map as well.

The problem is that you can clean most maps by just putting your squad on aggressive and waltzing through the game. The most fun I had while playing Tactics was when I had like 3 stealth characters with shotguns... Bwahahahahahaha!

I disagree on this one, though. I think the shotgun progression in Tactics is one of the more balanced ones. Same goes for shotgun ammo progression. Those shells are a lot more rare than other ammo in the game. Just my opinion on the subject...

You can win most of them missions if you get a super mutie with mutant armor 2 and the Psycho Perk. With enough constitution you can get the damage resistance near 250%. Most bullets will hit for 0 damage. DO NOT use this "tactic" facing foes with energy weapons.

Mutant armor?Excuse me?I know they exist but I didnt find even one when I played the game :(
I like the mission when you first face the Reavers and the battle in that house.Sweet.Had to load 10 times tough

The trick is to look at the mutants in your recruitment pool. Some of them are wearing mutant armour, some of them aren't. Just recruit one that is wearing the armour, take his armour and then exchange him again (unlesss you want to keep him, of course). They can also wear the brahmin armour (special encounter) which rocks even more. Psycho is the trick to make mutants nearly unvulnerable, but that works great with humans and other races as well.

Yup, the mission (Coldwater I think??) where you meet the reavers for the first time and attack their stronghold is the best one so far IMHO. Great the way you had to fend off their initial attack and then take the battle to them in their own territory. While they were not as tough to kill (with a sniper rifle mostly) as the mutants, they were better organized, smarter and occupied more strategic positions. That made it tough. I loved clearing the house of bad guys but took some damage doing so. I rarely use "aggresive mode" cause it makes a battle a little too easy. Often I will use grenades from a corner instead to soften them up before I slaughter them all.

Also, the bonus mission (Springfield???) was pretty cool.

I HATE CHANGING BUNKERS!!!!

Why?It gives you a chance to use Steal on the merchants(I know it sucks but hey - $ 11.000 :) ).With my ghoul I had over 200 % Steal(oops droped my hand).
And thanks Alec for the info.

The Preoria mission was quite challenging at first. But when you realize what makes the turrets above the ground work...Then it's just soo simple. I really liked the underground pre-war storage facility scene too. Reminds me a bit of FO2 Toxic Caves. :)

The cockroaches are a nice addition. Exept that they are like the only ones that you encouter along dogs/wolfs and a few other animal species. The super-duper-bug is kinda like The Brain in FO2's Gecko and even more it resemples FO2's Keeng Ra'at in Klamath.

The Santa Louis map was quite easy. You only needed someone with high repair skill and a few tool kits. But assaulting the mutant base in that map was veeery fun. :P I spent maybe an hour or two decimating that map and meditating my tactics. :)

The problem is that you can clean most maps by just putting your squad on aggressive and waltzing through the game. The most fun I had while playing Tactics was when I had like 3 stealth characters with shotguns... Bwahahahahahaha!

Which shells do you mean? I mean the only shells that I didn't find loads of were the EMP shells.

There are a lot of thingies that really annoy me in Tactics. Like the merchants (I mean the QMasta and the Doc's too) never restock their stock.

Well, I kind of forgot the names (it's been a year since I've played FOT), but first you find the regular red shells, then you find green ones (which are less common, "flechette" they're called or something), then you find the mighty purple shells (solid shotgun shells rock, but they're rare) and lastly, you'll find some yellow EMP shells. I really thought that was a nice progression, but hey, maybe that's just me. More powerfull, more rare.

Grenades have a nice progression as well. (my two cents, again)

Anyway, I thought that was pretty balanced.

Yeah the red ones are the basic shells. Green ones are flechette AKA Anti-Personel. Purple shells? I am sooo sure that they are actually pink. :D Anyways they are composite shells, sort of a "Armor Piercing" shells. Quite nice though. Yellow ones are EMP. Yeah it's nice to have zillions of different kinds of ammo for the shotgun, but... the rest of the different caliber ammo are the same (well almost same I'd suppose) as in FO1 and FO2. I mean you have 3 basic ammo types for the rest of the weapons. Ball/FMJ, AP and JHP. :?

I liked the different kinds of throwable thingies including different types of grenades. It's a darn shame that the flashbangs are sooo rare. And the merchants never restock their stock.

The purple shells are "slug" shells. Just a plain ol' lump of lead, not AP or composite.
Yellow ones are EMP.
Yeah, but I'm baffled as to how you could make a shotgun shell into an electromagnetic pulse.

Hm...I could swear that the purple ones were composite (CP). Why do you think I worte "sort of a "Armor Piercing" " shells? And I'm sure that the comp...slu....umm...purple shells have better penetration capabilities than the good ol' reds or greens.

I'm baffled about how could they make plasma or laser weapons. 8) Come on, the year is what it is. Put your imagination to work. :D

Hahaa my little timmygumwut! I just checked it with the entity editor. The purple/pink ones are NAMED slug, but when you check it with the editor the ammo type is composite! So I guess we both were right. :D

I also noticed that there were 12gg rubber ammo in the entity editor. Has anyone found this type of ammo? I haven't.
