So how come so many peopel are quitting Twitter?

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
I've noticed a lot of celebs and people from both sides of the political spectrum have been quitting Twitter for the past couple of years. So why is this happening?

There is a movement about abandoning social media going on. It is getting more popular now because of the whole "Facebook sold your information to "evil" companies and allowed it to be taken by some apps too!".

These places are literally about "Be with us or against us" communities that would go as far as to ruin your day or life because you mispronounced their preferred paperclip size.

Also more and more I see profiles with gender pronouns, furry/anime avatar and communism tags upon them. What is going to be funny is that if their own communist utopia comes alive, they would be the first sent to gulags.

The twitter format encourages exclusively inflamatory, generalized statements. Some people think this would have no effect on offline thinking but the more your language is mentally tailored towards exclusively confrontation and to piss off as much people as possible you in turn start adopting more dogmatic behavior in real life. Twitter tards even got angry when the character limit was doubled because this would mean their inflamatory statements had less of an excuse to be so.
Thus the site is mostly nazis, sjws, rumor mongering, fake sentationalist news and advertising.

I'll say twitter is worse. Both steal your info to advertisers but at least Facebook has a chat and you can just run adblock to not be bothered by the ads.

It's on the contrary in my country; my friends who were absent from Twitter for years suddenly re-emerged and start tweeting multiple times in succession.

But then again, the majority of my country has always been out of touch with global occurrences.

Conservatives because of censorship, shadowbanning. Dunno about liberals.
Funny how that one goes, conservatives and right wingers love to scream cencorship, but they forget that if you well, violate certain terms like sharing/posting racist stuff, you get sometimes kicked out. - Well getting kicked for that on Twitter takes some effort though, I mean you can dog-whistle all day on that shit platform, and never fear anything.

But it kinda feels like entering a mall that says, no screaming! And you scream and they throw you out and you yell "CENCORSHIP!" at the mall cops.

The misconception about free speech, it only protects you from government persecution (mostly), it doesn't make you inmune to following a community's guidelines.

I wish there was a site similar to Twitter but with no character limit, and a format that actually encourages writing long posts, and it doesn't make them a pain in the eye to read, them or the comments to them.

So kinda like Medium but without being so cringe, and more focused on sharing with just your social circle.

Edit: I used to be ok with Twitter but little by little I'm starting to think about it the same way my language professors do.

That limit in characters both only attracts people that can't read more than two lines without having an aneurysm and/or limits your already short brain (it's crazy how many people just don't know anymore how to format a text so it's not a shapeless blob of words, make it somewhat digestible).

Which is worse? Facebook or Twitter? Or are they both just as bad?
I guess they're just as bad. But recently.. like a month ago a created my first twitter account so i could uptade my twitch/youtube followers but hey.. most of them don't even have twitter.

I Think it depends on what purpose you make out of social medias... if it's just to expose your personal life and read/talk shit all day.. not good.

But if it helps you as a tool to whatever it is you do.. that's fine. Unless of course.. you do evil stuff lol

To be frank I don't see what the appeal of Twitter as a platform even is. The only thing you can do is post 280 characters long messages and that's about it. It doesn't have any system to create discussion groups, photo albums or organizing events in any organized and dynamic fashion. If a social netowrk is gonna steal my personal info it better offer some services.
