Orwell tried to show that doublethink is an obvious continuation of dialectical logic, which cancels the logic of Aristotle. There is a statement A. If A is true, then its negation is automatically false. But if we say that A and not A actually form a dialectical pair in which the unity and struggle of contradictions occurs, then we can cancel all Aristotelian formalism. The dialectical pair must be resolved by removing the contradiction on a new turn of thought where holy synthesis eliminates the boundaries between truth and falsehood. All modern politics is built on this.
I think the term "alternative facts" played this role well a few years ago. You don't see the term used much now, but it's still a widespread conversation tactic.
