General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Finished the Absolum demo, the new beat 'em up by the Streets of Rage 4 guys. Pretty fun; I like the character archetypes and playstyles, although the mechanics seem too simple, as do the enemy encounters, which aren't particularly challenging. The roguelite elements seem a bit tacked on for normie points and don't add to the game. Overall, pretty solid beat 'em up, especially given recent mediocre or outright bad offerings in the genre.

Well, I was going to start Cyberpunk, but now I have literally no way to play video games. My consoles and PC all decided to crap out on me. The only thing I have that turns on is my Switch but the stick drift is so damn bad that it is literally unplayable.

Guess I need to get a new PC. *Sigh*

Power supply went out of my PS5. It got played a LOT so maybe that had something to do with it? PC was shutting down on the home screen right after booting up and now won't even come on. The Xbox, same as PS. No power.

There is an alternative. If only you like books. It's about the same thing as the game. Only if you read, don't tell anyone. Victor Vector says hello. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58751026-transhumanism-inc

Im nearing 1200 hrs in PZ. Fucking hell that game is a drug.

Agreed, the game is astoundingly good. So good, I avoid playing it since I have a job and a house.
First time I ever played this game, I got hooked on it for like 2 weeks and slept about 4 hours each night. Not that you have to play the game, just hadn't played a game like that since high school or middle school even.

You can play it single player, multiplayer co-op, multiplayer co-op/PvP, default settings, custom settings, with or without mods, change the settings on the mods, however you want really. It's a crazy ass sandbox that you can also play as a game.
You want a lot of zombies? You got it. You want a few? You got it.
You want them to never respawn? Sure. You want them to be a constant threat no matter how often you thin their numbers? Fine.
You want them to be nearly blind, deaf, and move slowly? Okay. You want them to be apex predators that will run you down and kill you in a fit of rage for not having a shotgun at the ready? Let's go.
Want to be a nomad hero? A carpenter? A chef for your friends? You can!

One day, I still plan on doing either a single player or co-op play of this game with the RV mod that can be a mobile tiny home.
Last time I played with some friends, one didn't understand we were spawning together on the map and thought they'd "just meet up with us" which turned into a weekend trip of locating them, killing tons of zombies, and driving them back to our base of operations because they also didn't realize just how big and dangerous the map was.

I have been playing some old games thanks to Games Nostalgia who provides these games complete with emulator

The Settlers
James Pond 1
James Pond 2 Robocod
James Pond 3 Operation Starfish
Cannon Fodder

I am looking forwards to play the new Robocop Rogue City stand alone expansion pack

For the rest, I really need to check what FPS, action-adventure, or action-rpg games that have been released or about to be released.
Any recommendations would be welcome from any of you guys.
I am looking for games that include sci fi elements and are story driven.

Shell Shock Live right now, whilst waiting for multiple updates for other games and some updates for my hardware.
It's somewhat simple game. Lots of weapons though. Lots of ragequitters too.

Really want to play Mugen with my missus, but I'm postponing buying a new gamepad until [any] sort of actual income, whenever that miracle will happen, to instill myself some financial discipline whatnot.
Years ago I also tried those weird "make a gamepad out of a smartphone" applications, but I remember NOT achieving any good results.

Got the Dragon Quest 3 remake. 14 hours in so far and it seems this how you do an update on an old ass game. A lot of quality of life improvements. A bunch of new content like more sidequests. New story bosses (some of them are nasty and clearly made to fuck with veteran players. I got clapped by two of the new ones quite a few times). More story cutscenes to flesh out more of the world. Multiple difficulty options. Graphically looks very nice, rearranged music sounds very good too.

Now i'm eager to get the upcoming remakes of 1 and 2. Wonder how they will update them, specially the first one.

I see its also a HD-2D game similar to Live A Live, a game I rather enjoyed.
Would you recommend it to people who have never played the series before?
I heard there was some censorship going on with the characters that upset the players of the original game.

Currently I am playing Lost Vikings 2 again. Some of the puzzles are really tricky so I am not above using save states to get past them.

If you like traditional turn based JRPG combat, then go for it. The remake added options to increase battle speed and added a dash button in the overworld for faster movement.

Doesn't matter really, usual whining because female characters are no longer half naked. Plus it's a sprite based game, you can barely tell anyway.

Okay, then I am going to give it a try as soon as I have some money available.

Sorry for the double posting.

Have you BTW checked out Live A Live remake yet? What are your thoughts on it?

I'll tell you a game that I like, but I gather that it's somewhat of an acquired taste.

Any of the Disciples 2 series of strategy games. I can tell you that I decided to try it out for half an hour, and I played it for eighteen hours without a break.

Disciples 2 is what, game and one expansion?

I like it too. The grim atmosphere, the art, the OST, the story. Only finished undead singleplayer campaign. Started elf campaign, didn't finish.

Would be nice if there would be more Disciples 2 expansions, perhaps unlocking even more of the currently unplayable factions - the orks, the merman etc.

Drawback of Disciples 2 is the very limited hotseat content. Even with third party maps, the total play time would be low. Can't compare to HoMM3 in this regard. Due to this I didn't even try to introduce the game to my wife so far, albeit she would likely like it, since we played HoMM3 a lot.
Another issue is that in Disciples 2 loss of main army is even worse than losing it in HoMM3. Heck, in HoMM3 some maps are so huge and logistics so convoluted that losing main army may only mean the loss of map xp (chests, small mobs etc) gained by main hero (if he/she/it doesn't manage to run away). While in Disciples 2 every unit gains xp, so if you lose high leveled army, uff... :wtf:
