Give us a link to the game, please. Hehe...
SO, do you think they will end up going in with the tanks and troops, or use gas like in the theater in moscow?
Draft all the poor kids in the Moscow slums, send im into Chechnya to get killed fighting Chechen rebels for the current Russian goverment.
Voila, two problems solved.
That isn't funny in context...because they already do that.
If you fail to go to university or get a job after school, then the Russian government can conscript you. This is much more common than you would think. You can be called up, they train you, give you a gun and send you to Chechnya. The young fighters there are not paid and consequently have to loot villages and rob people's homes. There is little order and most of the poor guys are constantly drunk with vodka, in an attempt to escape their reality. Everyone hates them and they don't usually last very long, there just kids after all. The terrible conditions cause extreme psychological problems leading to high incidents of attrocoties, massacres and crimes. Because there is so much competition in Moscow, slum kids without connections are pretty much walking dead.
With regards to the hostage crisis, this a horrific situation, unprecedented, as they are threatening kids directly. The heartless bastards have shot several parents trying to get to their children, and they will blow the whole place if anyone tries to intervene.
They are screwed, the dose of the gas they used before kills children so they can't use it. If they send in the troops they lose them all. I don't know the result of the meeting, but the UN Security Council is considering the issue.
It is an impossible situation, as the Chechyens just keep getting pummeled by the army, leading to more brutalised Islamic children joining the fight of their fathers. If Moscow abandons Chenya they might start to lose even more territory, as well as international prestige. But they can afford to gain political adavantage from throwing unproductive kids into the meatgrinder in Chechnya.
Quietfanatic, it wasn't meant to be funny, it was teh truth.
Note how other countries do the same.
Damn it, guys, stop joking about this. Hasn't anyone seen the footage yet? I'm watching it right now and I'm fucking shocked. Naked children covered in blood everywhere. It's like a goddamn massacre. At least it's over (or so I heard), but how many casualties will there be this time? And it's children, people. Don't make fun of that.
stats at this point in time:
250 wounded (at least 180 children)
deadcount is still pretty much unknown, but the number bbc says is 5. which is impossible imho... there have been shitloads of explosions and assualtrifle fire.
it is said the russians werent fully prepared for anything to happen. they were still counting on negotiations.
I second that. The entire Chechnya thing is total BS though, puppet gov'ts, suspect elections, massacres.
I completely agree here. 100 people dead, countless wouneded, most of them Children. I won't even use this as an oppertunity for any kind of rant or anything, I'll just post this, that I think sums it up alot better then any of the bullshit lack of empathy here.
This is roughly the same as making fun of 9/11 on 9/11 you idiots. This was'nt a collection of high payed buisnessmen, these where Ossetian Children, for Christ's sake.
That is horrible...I hope they died quick without too much pain.
I hope this doesnt spark a firestorm, but would the Russian withdrawal from Chechnya solve the problem? I heard they did initially and they still had problems with crime and terrorism crossing the border.
I used to read the news every day about 45 minutes when I lived in Los Angeles, but when I moved I stopped and have been sorta behind in world events. It seems all you guys are vigilant...good work.
The Vault Dweller
You just HAVE to turn everything into a fucking political discussion, don't you?
No, they did'nt.
They where in a cold school without food or water for two days. It's hard to imagein a worse death.
Fuck you. Hundreds of people died. I'm trying to bring that to attention instead of that moronic, sociopathic bitching about how it's more of the same shit. A hundred children and few people seem to even care on this board.
I would have expected that on DaC, not here.
No, you are having a fucking political discussion.
and i also dont know how or why, but most kids were shirtless and sometimes didnt even have a pants on...
no food, no water, probably pretty cold gymnasium, half naked and being threathened by some wackos with automatic rifles and bombs.
i dont care why the hostagetakers did it, but i hope they will all die a horrible death (that is if they arent all dead by now)...
From what I've read they were naked because it was actually incredibly hot in the gymnasium. I'm guessing some were naked because they weren't allowed restroom breaks either and probably soiled themselves.
And I realize the title of this post is sarcastic, but in all seriousness - if this kind of act becomes a trend, how long before the Russian army tries to make that title a reality?
Just for the sake of argument...the gymnasium wasn't cold. It was in fact sweltering, which is why you see pictures of most of the children with clothing off. It was too hot to keep on.
edit: crap, you beat me to it..and somehow I missed your post when it was made like 20 minutes before mine.
jup that makes sense.
if the new numbers are correct: 1200 people stuck in an old gymnasium, i suppose it would be pretty hot in there...
the ruskies already did their best i think...
but of course they were fighting against a pretty small (if compared to the russian army) group of people using guerilla tactics. i suppose civilian casualties are inevitable.
however, i dont think that, even with the new terror acts, the Russians will go in Stalin-exterminationstyle...
What do you expect, giving the situation? I`m horrified and i`m not in a mood to make jokes about that region now.
This whole thing just goes to show you that truancy might one day save your life.
I'm wondering though, why were there so many armed men out of uniform around the site? The guy in an arctic camo jacket and 3-stripe tracksuit pants, and the other fat guy who looked like he'd escaped from the mob war episode of Max Payne II...
Anyway, if anyone from Russia happens to read this thread: I feel sorry for you people, seems like you've got a freakin' war zone in your country.
