Yeah but the Russians switched to space pens because the graphite from the pencils would float around the cabin and they’d breathe in the particles, which was the whole reason the US was developing the pens in the first place.

 

I cant imagine a pencil shedding much graphite. I think the biggest problem was the Russians had to use their dicks as a rubber/eraser. Sorry I couldn't resist.

I was going to mention wax pencils... but it's even mentioned in this article.

*Wax would still require a sealed sharpener; the pullaway paper kind would make an awful mess in zero g.

 

What about ink marker pens ? I know some are alcohol based and give off vapours so they must not have been considered. It's strange when the shit posting thread has a serious chat when other threads descend into bs. Urban legends are another strange phenomena.
