Companion list is limited to permanent companions only, there are no statements if temporary companions join us written anywhere for example that
Garage City Kid
that can travel with us as long as wie don't finish a quest related to him.
there ae other npcs like him, that only join for a short time, like until a certain quest is finished, or until we escort them somewhere, and they automatically leave.
I'd like to also fix ai packets for all of those too, just don't have the list.. although i don't know if it's worth to bother with temporary companions, because of their temporary party state.

Ok. I'll be waiting for the full list of Fo:Sonora temporary party npcs, that You've said You'll try to assemble.

In the meantime I'll try to take care of known permanent party members custom controll options to work, and perhaps try an test playthrough. however be aware it may not work on russian version, as I'm playing a partially translated game. So the files would have to be adjusted to clean russian version ( namely my edits in AI.txt would have to be renamed to match party member names in russian.)

So, my fellow mutants, here it is! The

FALLOUT SONORA TRANSLATION

Made by AdolfSatan from the RPGCodex with a bit of aid on my part. It’s a machine translation (Yandex), but the game is playable all the way though without any other difficulties than accepting some ESL-tier English mistakes.

How does it work? Get Fallout: Sonora + DLC, Extended Release by Foxxx from RUtracker, which is essentially FO:S with the DLC and injected sfall. Then download the contents of the dropbox folder with the translation and replace everything in the Russian version. You’re ready to go!
If you’d prefer the vanilla version of Sonora, get the master.dat from dbox and the file called Dayglow_DLC.dat (inside the /mods folder) but rename it to patchDLC.dat, then replace them inside your install folder.

Known bugs in the sfall version (i.e. not the translation’s fault): burst attacks cause CTD. There are some other random items like the Geiger counter that also CTD when used in hand. Gotta wait for the modder to fix it. If you need to bypass this but don’t want to live without sfall of the Extended Release, you can transfer the savefile to vanilla Sonora, do what you have to, then transfer back to the ER.

The files in the dropbox folder will get updated as I find stuff to fix, but at this point, there shouldn’t be much left to do.

Stuff to report:
Untranslated dialog, write down the name of the character and its location.

Don’t bother reporting:
Untranslated UI. I might get to fixing that, but no promises. It shouldn’t affect your ability to play the game in any way, you already know where the AP counter is.
Dialog that’s not idiomatic. Fix it yourself, I don’t care.

Translation v.1.1:

- The Burst attack/Giger counter item/Radio item CTD bug has now been fixed
- Fixed the .msg file for an NPC in Tucson that was giving 'Error' in dialogue
- Minor updates to dialogues and description texts all around

Do note you'd have to download the contents of the dropbox folder again and overwrite the stuff in your Sonora root folder for this update to take effect.

Also, please keep reporting stuff you stumble upon on your playthroughs, you're making our job easier by a mile, thanks :postviper: you can send your finds via DM as to not clutter the thread

We managed to recruit a native Russian speaker that has superb knowledge of English as well, so this will help us hopefully in translating the context and meaning of the original text even better, so each future update should be closer and closer to an actual complete translation quality-wise.

I've been wanting to play Fallout Sonora for a LONG while now. Thank you so much for sharing this! Honestly, the translation is great for being a first release (Edited).

Edit: The best version of the game in English is definitely "Fallout: Sonora + DLC, Extended Release, 14.09.23, Mod" with the FO Sonora + Dayglow EN (English Patch Version 1.2)

Nah.. from what i understood the machine translation got a *human* touch afterwards, so it's not just "rough draft machine translation". It has been tuned up, after copy-pasta, to resemble proper english more naturally. I haven't tried it yet, but someone claimed certain things didn't get translated a.k.a. non-idiomes. I suspect however those will get translated too, since this team aquired native Russian well versed in english as well into their ranks..

I can't seem to find the Extended Release by Foxx. RUtracker seems to require an account to browse it. Does anyone have the link? I tried downloading from the site, but sadly they only have the main installment and Dayglow seperately. When using the translation on that, it doesn't translate the text in game. Only the menu and character select screen. Weird.

No need for an account, though it would require some browsing, because the search option is only available if you're logged in IIRC. Here you go:

it would seem that the link Voilator posted has some w3b$h1t attached to it. Going through the link constantly throws a warning of an XSS cross site scripting attack.

it leads you to vk site, with an article to Fo Sonora patch 1.11. it gives an older patch, however if you click on the link there you get redirected to latest foxx build.
be advised you need a bittorent client capable of handling magnet files to be able to download this. I'm telling you this just in case, as bittorent activity in some countries is considered criminal activity in certain cases.

Dunno, it's working fine for me and I didn't get any warnings nor had any issues downloading from there :confused:

Translation v.1.2:
  • UI/inventory/menus/SFall are all now fully in ENG
  • Town names on the Worldmap are now showing correctly in ENG
  • Fixed holodisk errors in PipBoy and holodisk text formatting
  • Fixed premade char bios formatting
  • Fixed a dialogue error when talking to Hard in Two-Sun
  • Fixed some more common translation errors that we found/you guys reported, posting here for reference:
    • Stimulator > Stimpak
    • Radmurav > Rad-Ant
    • Caretaker > Overseer
    • Mainline drivers > Highwaymen
    • Antiradin > Radaway
    • Volt > Vault
    • GECC/HECC > GECK
Same as before, you'd have to download the contents of the dropbox folder again and overwrite the stuff in your Sonora root folder for this update to take effect.

it's because i use elevated security plugins to firefox, that warn me of stuff like that, normally ppl wouldn't notice, however better to stay on the safe side.
