Half of their songs have the word balls in them. Look up their albums. It's absurd. Classic example of a band that coasted lazily on the same path after they got big.

    ---
They were a product of the 90's/early 00's. Other bands that were good, but are now bad include:

    Static X
    Disturbed
    Godsmack
    Linkin Park
    NSync
    Backstreet Boys
    Spice Girls

No Gods, no kings, no master, praise the Sun!

Edit cause I'm not double posting:

I know they were, it was all that raprock/nu metal stuff. I only knew of them because I was really into nu metal and similar things in late middle school.

Oh I did too. They were my band man. From like 8th grade til about 10th or 11th then I really got into Mushroomhead. Then later on my music became more varied.

I found Slipknot kind of lame and pretentious and trying way too hard
I did - while being a total "mansonite" at the time :V

I'm too old to explore new bands now, I'm mostly recycling, save for an exception here and there - but I often wonder, if I were 17 now, what would I be totally into?

Slipknot was my favorite band in high school. I was a huge fan of that type of music and now my tastes are more varied as well. Haven't heard much Mushroomhead though. Sun Doesn't Rise is pretty good I think.

I always liked the Slipknot song “The Devil In I” but my high school jam artist was Celldweller.

  10. All modern music is basically exploiting and copying what some black people were doing back in the early 1900s

When did this become a Nu-Metal Thread? Are we 1999 now?
Got their song Symbiont burned into my brain.

  13. Want a really unpopular opinion?

    Actually it's not an opinion.

    Just a feeling.

In the 90s we had a bit of a Crossover phase in Germany.

The "cargo pants over bathing suit" is a look that should not have been forgotten.

  19. He's not that funny, but he does have some points.

If the left wants identity politics then the alt-right is going to give it to them and they are going to lose.

leftist minority groups: "We want our identities to be respected, and our issues to be acknowledged"

fascists: "off to auschwitz you go! You know, we're the cultural majority asserting our influence to crush everyone else, isn't that SO radical?"
